Martha Jane Wilson, 71, of Salina, Kan., passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025. She was born on Feb. 24, 1954, in Lyons, Kan., to John and Mary (Olivier) Fox.

Janie was joined in marriage to James D. “Jim” Wilson on Dec. 28, 1973, in Wichita, Kan.

Janie was highly creative, thoughtful, outgoing and incredibly tough. She challenged herself, showing determination and perseverance in everything she set her mind to, including completing the New York City and Chicago Marathons. Her quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to everyone around her, and her family and friends will forever remember the laugh that could light up a room.

Her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren, who knew her as both playful and endlessly loving. She loved flowers and spending time in her garden, which the family liked to call “Martha’s Vineyard”.

Janie’s legacy lives on in her four sons and her five grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of resilience, her love for family, and her ability to find joy in any moment.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Jim; sons, Clete, Jack (Kellie), Mike (Annika), and Joe Wilson; grandchildren, Henry, Zoey, and Eva Wilson, and Isla and Ingrid Wilson; brother, Tim Fox; and sister-in-law, Jan Montroy.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Jefferson James Wilson.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Ryan Mortuary, with a graveside committal service to follow at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita.

Memorials may be made to the Salina Regional Health Center Foundation or DVACK, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
