Joe Dean Hansen

Joe Dean Hansen, son of Curtis Hansen and Blanche (Novak) Hansen was the eldest child  born June 12 1940 at rural Belleville, Kansas and passed away on January 4, 2021 at Republic County Hospital ISB, (Long Term Care), Belleville, Kansas at the age of 80.

Joe was a hard working, conscientious farm laborer, working along side his mother milking cows, tending to the chickens, gardening and other chores.  He also assisted his father and brothers with the care of the livestock and crops. Joe

Attended one room country schools and completed 8th grade at Grace Hill School in 1954.

After the death of his parents, Joe left the family farm home to reside at the Long Term Care Unit of Republic County Hospital.   He enjoyed every minute of his stay there and developed close friendships with the residents and staff. 

Joe was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Belleville, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Blanche Hansen, niece, Cortney Hansen Hatesohl, niece in law, Tara Hansen.

He is survived by one sister, Joyce Hansen of Belleville, KS, four brothers, Larry (Sally) Hansen of Alliance, NE, Billy Hansen of Belleville, KS, Dennis (Melba) Hansen of Belleville, KS, Randy (Marcia) Hansen of Belleville, KS, sister in law, Merry Jo Hansen of Belleville, KS, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Private family funeral service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS, conducted by, Deacon Steve Heiman.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Belleville, KS.

Memorials may be given to Republic Co Hospital ISB (Long Term Care) or Meadowlark Hospice.
