⚾️ KWU completes sweep of Sterling in weather-delayed 14-2 win

STERLING, Kan. -- Kansas Wesleyan Baseball resumed its suspended game with the Sterling Warriors from Saturday and came away with a 14-2 win to complete the series sweep.

The victory pushed KWU's record to 36-6 overall and 25-4 in the KCAC. The Coyotes hold a six-game lead in the conference standings with seven games remaining in the conference season.

KWU led 10-2 when the game was suspended due to weather on Saturday and picked back up on Monday.

Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Niko Olson led off the game with a double and then scored on Fernando Ruvalcaba's single. Blake Dale drove in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 2-0.

Zac Goldenberg led off the second with a homer but Sterling got two runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the third inning, KWU hit four homers by Carter Allen, Ruvalcaba, Dale and Logan Arndt, to extend the lead to 7-2.

The Coyotes added two more in the fourth as Allen led off with a could and then scored on Ruvalcaba's single. Two batters later Dale homered for a second time in the game to make it 10-2.

The Coyotes had two runners on when the game was suspended in the fifth.

On Monday when the game resumed, the Coyotes got a RBI single by Olson and Dale knocked in two more runs with a single. The Coyotes loaded the bases and Goldenberg walked to bring in a run.

Riley Gwin got the win in relief for the Coyotes, going three innings, not allowing a run.

Dale had three hits and drove in six runs. Ruvalcaba had three hits and drove in three runs.
