Saline County Commissioners agreed to eliminate the advisory council for the Health Department.
On Tuesday during the Saline Co. Commission meeting, Director of the Health Department Jason Tiller brought forth the consideration of ending the advisory council.
The reason across the board was due to a lack of engagement in past meetings and lack of participation.
In 2025, there were a total of six scheduled meetings with three of them canceled due to a significant number of absences.
"Staff time would be spent better doing something else," said Commissioner Monte Shadwick. "The time has come to move on and I don't see relevancy anymore."
Other challenges in the past have been trying to fill vacant positions in the council as well.
In order for the advisory council to officially be removed, Commissioners would need to vote on a resolution during a public meeting to come.
