November 30, 1934 ~ December 10, 2021 (age 87)
Elaine Harriett Plowman, the daughter of Adrian Milo Johnson and Ruth Blake (Carey) Johnson, was born November 30, 1934 in Scandia, Kansas and passed away on December 10, 2021 in Newkirk, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years and 10 days.
Elaine grew up in the Scandia, Kansas area, graduating from Scandia High School in 1952. She then attended Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas. Elaine worked for one year at Fidelity State Bank in Concordia.
On September 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Russell Jacobson, Jr and to this union were born Karla and Karl. The couple made their home in the Norway, Kansas area and he preceded her in death.
She was married to Lloyd Calvin Plowman on May 22, 1977 and he preceded her in death.
Elaine lived in the Norway Community for 52 years, moving to Belleville in 2005. In 2017, she moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Norway, KS and active in the WELCA Ladies Group; a member of the Norway Tuesday Coffee Group; Town & County FCE Scandia, Order of Eastern Star #115 of Belleville, KS, and the Belleville Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Russell Jacobson Jr., second husband Calvin Plowman; parents Milo and Ruth Johnson; twin grandchildren Ryan & Christopher Hurtig; and half-sister Betty (Jack) Bowers.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Karla (Terry) Cheek of Newkirk, Oklahoma; one son, Karl (Jan) Jacobson of Concordia, Kansas; four grandchildren: Ron (Laurie) Jacobson, Lisa (Tony) Strnad, Chelsea (Kyle) Holmes, Tyler (Robyn) Evans; six great-grandchildren: Dylan Jacobson, Riley Jacobson, Ellie Mae Evans, McKenna Jacobson, Lauren Strnad, and Jacob Strnad; other relatives and friends.
Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Norway, Kansas with Reverend Dennis Beckmann officiating.
Family inurnment graveside services will be held at the Valley Cemetery, rural Norway following the memorial services.
Friends may sign the register book prior to the services at the church on Friday, January 7.
