KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Major League Baseball this morning announced outfielder Jac Caglianone and left-handed pitcher Noah Cameron have been named American League Player and Pitcher of the Month for August. The awards are voted on by media members across Major League Baseball.

This marks the fourth time the Royals have had both the American League Player and Pitcher of the Month in the same month, following July 1985 (George Brett and Bret Saberhagen), September 1981 (Willie Wilson and Larry Gura) and July 1980 (Brett and Gura). The Royals are the second team to do this in the Majors this season, following the Rays, after Junior Caminero and Drew Rasmussen won Player and Pitcher of the Month for June, respectively.
Caglianone is the 13th different Royal (18th instance) to win American League Player of the Month, and the first since Bobby Witt Jr. in July 2024. Cameron is the 11th different Royals pitcher (18th instance) to win the award and the first since Kris Bubic in May 2025.
Caglianone, 23, slashed .411/.429/.684 (39-for-95) in 24 games last month with 6 home runs and 26 RBI. He led the American League in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS (1.113) and RBI, tied for 1st in total bases (65), ranked 2nd in hits and extra-base hits (14) and 3rd in on-base percentage.
He was the third player in franchise history to post a batting average of at least .410 with 25 RBI in a single month (min. 90 AB), joining Brett (.430, 30 RBI) in August 1980 and Amos Otis (.413, 29 RBI) in September 1978.
He reached safely in 22 of his 24 games last month, which included a career-best 17-game on-base streak from Aug. 1-19. He hit safely in 21 of his 24 games in August and registered a career-high 13-game hit streak from Aug. 1-15.
Cags had a pair of signature games last month, including Aug. 8 vs. the Cubs, when he recorded 2 doubles and 2 home runs, becoming the first player in Royals history to reach those marks in a single game, while matching the club record for extra-base hits in a game (4). At age 23 years and 180 days, he was the youngest left-handed hitter to record a 2-homer, 2-double effort since Hall of Famer Mel Ott (20 years, 109 days) on June 19, 1929 at Philadelphia (G1).
On Aug. 27 in Toronto, Jac had a career-high 5 hits and 6 RBI, becoming the third Royal in team history to have at least 5 hits and 6 RBI in a game, joining Eric Hosmer (5 hits, 6 RBI) on July 26, 2017 at Detroit and Kevin Seitzer (6 hits, 7 RBI) on Aug. 2, 1987 vs. Boston.
Cameron, 27, went 4-0 in 5 starts last month with a 1.87 ERA (7 ER in 33.2 IP) and a .155 opponents’ average (18-for-116). His ERA ranked 4th in the American League (min. 5 starts) and his opponents’ average ranked 2nd. He led the AL in innings per start (6.2) and WHIP (0.80) and his 4 wins were 1 shy of the league leaders.
Cameron posted a career-high-tying 19.0-inning scoreless streak that spanned parts of 4 starts from Aug. 10-27 and a career-best 48.2 homerless innings stretch that dated back to July 19.
He was the first Royals pitcher to record at least 4 wins and an ERA below 1.90 in a single month since Seth Lugo (5 wins, 1.79 ERA) in May 2024 and the first Royals left-handed pitcher to turn the trick since Dennis Rasmussen (4 wins, 1.17 ERA) in September 1992.
