Kansas Wesleyan's Kelcey Hinz has been named as the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts for the Coyotes last week.

The KCAC Player of the Week program is selected by conference sports information directors.

Hinz excelled both offensively and defensively on the court for the Coyotes last week as KWU picked up victories over University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, and Evangel in the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic.

Hinz narrowly missed a triple-double against UHSP scoring 28 points, pulling down nine rebounds and recording 10 blocks. Her 10 blocks tied the KCAC conference record and the Kansas Wesleyan school record, initially established in 2004. She also established a new KWU record for field goal percentage in a game based on a minimum of 10 attempts, going 10 for 10 from the field in the game. She also rebounded and scored the game winning shot and free throw to give KWU the 76-73 win.

Against Evangel, Hinz helped lead the Coyotes to a 78-62 win over the Valor, going 5 of 6 from the field and 1 of 1 at the free throw line for 11 points, while pulling down another nine rebounds, and another outstanding defensive effort with four blocks and a steal.

For the week, Hinz was 15 of 16 shooting for 92.3 percent, 9 of 11 at the free throw line, while averaging 19.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.0 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game, helping KWU to a 2-0 record and a 3-0 start to the season.

Hinz currenly leads the NAIA in blocks with 19 and blocks per game at 6.33.

This is the second time Hinz has been selected as a KCAC Player of the Week, earning defensive honors last week.

KWU returns to action on Thursday at Central Christian in McPherson before heading to Fayette, Mo., to take on No. 17 ranked Central Methodist on Saturday.
