The Southeast of Saline Trojans are officially back on track, following a 74-52 rout of the Beloit Trojans tonight.
With this win, SES has won eight of their last ten advancing to 9-6 on the year while Beloit falls to 4-9.
“This is a great win for us especially from a momentum standpoint but we’re better than even what we showed tonight,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “We just have to get it out of them so we can make a run.”
SES was led by a 20-point effort by Camden Spano-Lund, who was backed up by Jaxson Gebhardt (13), Nakari Morrical-Palmer (12), and Eli Sawyers (10).
The Trojans also got 18 points from their bench with 10 different scorers, a considerable improvement over previous efforts.
Coach Flax emphasized making Beloit uncomfortable in pregame and the Southeast did just that, forcing 20 turnovers while turning it over themselves just three times.
“I know we didn’t turn it over very much, but there were times when I think we should have had a few more on them,” he said. “Our whole focus right now is to play our best basketball starting tonight.”
Beloit got 19 points from Caleb Burks in the losing effort but struggled offensively beyond that, with no other players reaching double digits.
While tonight's performance from the Trojans was a good one, coach Flax still sees room for improvement down the stretch.
I thought we gave about 26 minutes of really good basketball tonight,” he said. “But it’s going to take 32 to beat some of these really good teams so we have to continue to get better.”
SES will be back in action when they travel to 10-4 Minneapolis on Friday.
