WICHITA — Nathan Righi (JR/Pekin, Ill.) of No. 22 ranked Kansas Wesleyan University has earned the KCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday. Righi was selected for his performance from April 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Righi was dominant in the 17-3 victory for the Coyotes over Avila. He went six innings in the seven-inning run-rule shortened game, allowing two runs on four hits. He tallied 14 strikeouts in the game, recording 14 of the 18 outs he got via strikeout.
He did not issue a walk in the contest.
Kansas Wesleyan is 36-11 overall and 24-6 in the KCAC and leads the conference by a game over McPherson heading into the final weekend series of the game. The Coyotes are at Saint Mary on Friday and Saturday in Leavenworth.
The KCAC Postseason tournament begins May 3 at Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend.
