
Gregory Lynn “Greg” Balthazor, 62, formerly of Concordia passed away, Sunday, May 10, 2025, at his home in Chandler, Az. Greg was born on June 18, 1962 in Concordia, Kan., to Armand and Helen (Appleby) Balthazor.
Greg grew up in Concordia, Ks and graduated from Concordia High School in the class of 1981. His most outstanding high school accomplishment was winning the State Wrestling Championship in the Heavy Weight division in his junior year. This was the first ever state wrestling title awarded to a Concordia wrestler. After graduating, he attended Pratt Community College. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Ks.
Greg taught at Lee Elementary in Manhattan, KS, from 1989-1996. For 10 years he worked at Kids TLC Mental and Behavioral Health in Shawnee, Ks. He taught in Kyrene School District in Phoenix, Az, at Kyrene de la Colina Elementary School from 2019 to present. During his time in Kansas City, Greg also had a successful deck restoration business. Greg loved teaching and wanted so much to make a difference in the lives of the children that entered his classroom.
Greg met the love of his life, Lisa Fox, and they were married July 15, 2018, in Chandler, Az.
Greg, most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren, Paisley and Palmer Potts and Teller Graham, who thought he was the best papa ever. He dearly loved his nieces and nephews, and they dearly loved him. Hiking and traveling were at the top of his list for leisure time. He had a great passion for golf which he inherited from his dad, Armand.
Greg is survived by his wife, Lisa Balthazor, two sisters; Cindy Cleveland (Mike), Christine Sevigny, two brothers; Fred Balthazor (Theresa Kueter), and Pat Balthazor (Jamie), stepdaughter, Cayla (Brandon), stepson Colter (Jessy) Potts, sister-in-law, Cindy Balthazor, 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Balthazor, nephews Kirk Balthazor and Benjamin Cleveland.
Family will gather at the Church the morning of the service.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Ks with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde, Ks.
The family and friends will gather for a luncheon immediately following the Service in the Parish Hall for fellowship and to share memories of Greg’s life.
The family has requested those attending to wear purple, Greg’s favorite K-State color.
