The Southeast of Saline track and field teams hit the ground running at the Saline County Invitational on Wednesday, with a first-place finish for the boys and a fourth-place finish for the girls.

Despite competing against the 5A likes of Salina South and Central, the Trojan teams brought home ten individual victories and 21 medals to add to a hard-fought team win.

On the boy's side Chase Poague and Dylan Sprecker wasted no time beginning their title defenses, with Poague cleaning up wins in the 100m dash and both the 110 and 300m hurdles.

Sprecker would tack on two more victories for SES first in the 800, and then in the 1600 with Cayden Walker close behind to make it a 1-2 Trojan finish.

Walker would add a win of his own collecting the gold in the 3200, and Jude Golden would round out the individual boy's winners, earning the top spot in the javelin throw.

The Southeast boys team looked strong in the relays as well winning the 4x4 and placing second in the 4x8 and 4x1.

It was also a phenomenal meet for Tate Nurnberg who collected a second-place finish in the high jump before earning bronze in the pole vault and triple jump.

Rounding out the podium finishers for the boy's were Damion Jackson and Caden Perry who placed second and third in the 3200 and 300m hurdles respectively.

On the girl's side, Jentrie Alderson got right back to her winning ways, claiming victory in both the 1600 and 3200 on the day.

Ivie Douglas and Cali Augustine added second-place finishes in the shot put and 400m dash respectively, with the team adding a third silver medal in the 4x800 relay.

Both Trojan track teams will be back in action on Friday, April 8 for the Marion Relays.
