Vickie Joann (Proett) Weaver, 71, of Vinland, KS died Saturday, April 27, 2024 in her home.

Vickie was born November 7, 1952 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the oldest of nine children and served as a nurse during a career covering four decades.  Family and helping others were her top priorities.  She married Rick Weaver in 1983 and arrived in Baldwin in 1985.  She worked at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha and the Wayne (Nebraska) Hospital prior to coming to Baldwin.  In Baldwin she worked at the Jones Clinic and Baldwin Family Practice until retirement.  Vickie was an avid supporter of community and school activities.  She was a frequent volunteer in Baldwin functions ranging from local fundraisers to making hundreds of masks for the covid pandemic.  Sewing and knitting things for her nieces, nephews, and a long list of relatives was a favorite hobby… so was following the Nebraska Cornhuskers. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joann and Maurice Proett.  Survivors include husband Rick Weaver (Baldwin), daughter Becky Weaver (Baldwin), son Luke Weaver (Berryton, KS), stepson Jake Weaver (Omaha, NE), sisters Jeanne Gardner (Wayzata, MN), Nancy Stoltenberg (Lincoln, NE), Mary Kroupa (Omaha, NE), Susan Bowers (Norfolk, NE), Kris Wilkowske (Edina, MN) and brothers Daniel Proett (Roanoke Rapids, NC), Darren Proett (Fremont, NE), and Doug Proett (Hutchinson, KS).

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City, KS.  To celebrate Vickie’s life, a visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Lumberyard Arts Center, 718 High St, Baldwin City, KS 66006.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Lumberyard Arts Center and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
