The arts, proclamations, proposed ordinances, and an executive session are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.
About the meeting
Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.
To participate via Zoom, citizens will need to use the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89275984587.
The meeting also can be accessed by phone at 1-346-248-7799. Enter Meeting ID:892 7598 4587 when prompted.
If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.
Citizens also can send written comments or questions to city commissioners via email at [email protected].
In order for the commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments in advance of the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5 p.m. the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.
Study session
Commissioners are scheduled to meet in a study session beginning at 2 p.m. Monday. The topic of the study session is "State of the Arts." To see the study session information, click here.
Regular meeting
The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider the following two proclamation requests.
Proclaim the week of Oct. 16-22, 2022, as Friends of the Salina Public Library Week in the city of Salina. Gretta Kontas, president of Friends of the Salina Public Library, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Proclaim the month of October 2022 as National Arts and Humanities Month in the city of Salina. Brittany Willer, Salina Arts & Humanities Commission Chair, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Other items on the Salina City Commission Agenda for Monday include the following.
●Consider authorizing the submission of a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Letter of Intent to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management for a right-of-way and parks tree pruning mitigation program.
●Consider approving on second reading a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 38, Article I of the City of Salina Code by adopting the 2022 Standard Traffic Ordinance for Kansas Cities published by the League of Kansas Municipalities.
●Consider approving on second reading a proposed ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article I of the City of Salina Code by adopting the 2022 Uniform Public Offense Code for Kansas Cities published by the League of Kansas Municipalities.
●Consider approving on first reading a proposed ordinance clarifying an amendment to the text of Section 42-508(d) governing the placement of temporary signs during election season.
Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to meet in executive session to discuss the subject of legal considerations relating to the Drever Partners, LLC development proposal with legal counsel.
