It's going to be hot and steamy on Thursday.
Heat indices Thursday afternoon and early evening are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s over much of our area and nearing 100 degrees across much of south central Kansas, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.
Heat indices are determined when relative humidity is factored into actual air temperatures. Think of them as "what it feels like" temperatures.
Be sure to drink plenty of water and limit strenuous outdoor activities on Thursday afternoon and evening.
