Variety on city commission agenda for Monday

A variety of items are on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.

Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a 2:30 p.m. study session in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. "Major Capital Expenditures Update for Solid Waste Landfill" is the subject of the study session.

The regular commission meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday in room 107 of the City-County Building. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Commissioners are being asked to proclaim October 2020 as National Arts and Humanities Month in the City of Salina. Brittany Willer, chair of the Salina Arts & Humanities Commission is scheduled to read the proclamation.

Commissioners also are scheduled to hear the second reading of Ordinance No.20-11042 authorizing the execution of a loan agreement between the City of Salina and the State of Kansas for the purpose of financing improvements to the city’s water distribution system.

Other items on the city agenda for Monday include the following.

●Hear the first reading of Ordinance No. 20-11043 authorizing and providing for a countywide public safety communications system and authorizing the issuance of Temporary Notes and/or General Obligation Bonds of the City to pay for the city's part of the system.

●Consider Resolution No. 20-7880 authorizing the offering for sale of General Obligation Internal Improvement and Refunding Bonds, Series 2020-B of the City of Salina.

●Hear the first reading of Ordinance No. 20-11041 authorizing the issuance and delivery of General Obligation Internal Improvement and Refunding Bonds, Series 2020-B.

●Consider Resolution No. 20-7876 authorizing staff to submit the Fiscal Sustainability Plan for the Wastewater Collection and Treatment System to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

●Consider Resolution 20-7875 reaffirming the Saline County Solid Waste Management Plan with addenda.

●Consider the purchase of survey equipment for the Solid Waste Division and consider Resolution No. 20-7881 authorizing the city manager to execute a cost-sharing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saline County.

●Consider authorizing the fire department to utilize sole source purchasing to purchase five Stryker Powerload Cot loading systems and one Stryker Power ProXT Cot for Salina Fired Department ambulances.

●Hear the first reading Ordinance No. 20-11039 amending and repealing certain sections of Chapter 25, Article I of the Salina Code by adopting the 2020 Uniform Public Offense Code for Kansas Cities.

●Hear the first reading Ordinance No. 20-11040 amending Chapter 38, Article I of the Salina Code by adopting the 2020 Standard Traffic Ordinance.

Consider acceptance of proposed easement and restricted access dedications on the proposed final plat of the Tony’s Subdivision, a proposed replat of the Tony’s Pizza/Schwan’s corporate campus.
