Salina Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a midday burglary at a business on Tuesday, August 6, after a neighbor reported seeing suspicious activity.
SPD LT Kyle Tonniges said that at approximately 11:59 a.m. on August 6, officers responded to Diehl Construction, 521 Bishop Street.
"A neighbor witnessed a subject go inside the business," Tonniges said. "The garage door had been left partially open, but the employee had left for lunch, so the neighbor knew there shouldn't be anybody inside."
When officers arrived, they found a suspect, identified as 45-year-old Isaac Miller of Salina, just outside the business. Miller had a flashlight valued at $30, which was allegedly stolen from inside the business.
Tonniges said during the search, a small amount of methamphetamine fell from Miller's pocket. He then attempted to destroy the methamphetamine by stepping on it, leading to a struggle with officers.
Miller was arrested with requested charges of burglary, theft, possession of methamphetamine, and interference with law enforcement.
