NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Having their first off weekend of the year wouldn't do much to the Cloud County Community College track and field teams as both the women and men would hold down their respective spots inside the top-two of the latest United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Polls released on Wednesday.

The latest rankings saw the T-Bird women hang on to their impressive stranglehold over the top-spot for the third consecutive week with a total of 470.81 points in the computer-generated poll. Despite the nearly 58-point drop, CCCC saw their lead over second-ranked Barton decline by only 26 points as the Cougars netted 284.04 points to stay ahead of both Iowa Central (266.26 points) and South Plains (265.87 points).

Over in the latest men's rankings, Cloud County would continue their stay in the top-two as only CCCC and top-ranked Iowa Central would crack the 300 point mark in the computer-generated rankings. The Tritons have a 90-point lead on the top spot with 389.65 points as the T-Birds came in with 309.69 points to beat Indian Hills who is ranked third with 296.55 points. Both Cloud County and Indian Hills were idle last week as the remaining seven spots in the top-10 saw five changes among teams.

Both the women's and men's polls have seen a strong influence of KJCCC member schools as the women's rankings had four Jayhawk Conference schools in the top 10 and 11 in the top-25 while the men's poll saw five KJCCC schools ranked inside the top-10 and a total of 11 inside the top-21 to set up what is expected to be a high-level KJCCC Indoor Championship meet next weekend.

Cloud County is scheduled to compete in the Washburn University JUCO Challenge on Friday as Cowley, Iowa Central, and Iowa Western are expected to join the T-Birds in the afternoon meet.
