Mary Chestnut, 89, died September 12, 2020 at the Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, Kansas. She was born April 10, 1931 at Plankinton, South Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Harris) Mitchell. Mary grew up in Plankinton, South Dakota, graduating from high school in 1949. She married Roger Chestnut on April 15, 1951 and they lived in several places before moving to Clay County in the early 1960s. Mary worked at the Fincham Locker Plant, Fowles Locker Plant, the Clay County Hospital for 15 years and as a home health aide for several years. Roger preceded her in death on August 14, 2013. Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and an elder, and she was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and son in-law, Tom James.

Memorial Services: will be held Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10:30AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas

Inurnment: Private Inurnment will take place at the Republican City Cemetery in Clay County, Kansas.
Visitation: Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 2-5 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas
