Two community corrections officers flagged down a Salina Police Department officer on patrol for assistance with an allegedly violent juvenile client on Tuesday.

SPD Capt. James Feldman said at about 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, a pair of corrections officers stopped an SPD officer on patrol in the 900 block of Hancock Street to ask for assistance.

According to the community corrections officers, as they attempted to make contact with a 14-year-old male client, he became violent, causing the corrections officers to look for aid.

"While the officer was speaking with one corrections officer, he observed the juvenile swing a PVC pipe at the other corrections officer," Feldman said. "The officer, along with the corrections officers, then attempted to subdue the juvenile — he did kick the officer."

The child did not injure any of the three officers, though, Feldman said.

Officers then arrested the child and requested charges of aggravated assault, battery of a law enforcement officer and interference with law enforcement.
