The 44th annual Leadsled Spectacular, hosted by Kustom Kemps of America (KKOA), is set to transform Salina's Oakdale Park into a hub of classic car culture and rock 'n' roll nostalgia. This year's event, scheduled from July 25 to July 28, promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Special Guest Appearance: Candy Clark
Renowned actress Candy Clark, best known for her roles in the 1973 classic "American Graffiti" and the 1976 sci-fi film "The Man Who Fell to Earth," will be gracing the Leadsled Spectacular with her presence. Fans can meet Clark at Oakdale Park from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on July 25-27 for photos and autographs.
This is a rare opportunity to interact with a Hollywood legend who earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Elvis Night: A Tribute to the King
An Elvis tribute concert will be on July 27 at The Temple, 336 S Santa Fe in Salina. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the concert begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets, priced at $25 for adults and free for children ten and under, are available at The Temple, Cozy Inn, and the registration booth at Quality Inn starting July 24. The concert features Trent Smith and his Oklahoma Band, paying homage to the King of Rock & Roll with a spectacular performance.
A Packed Schedule of Classic Car Enthusiasm
The Leadsled Spectacular starts with the Sundown Cruise on Santa Fe Ave at 7:30 p.m. on July 25. This parade of classic cars starts at Oakdale Park, allowing participants to wave at sidewalk spectators.
From July 25-28, Oakdale Park will be the epicenter of activities from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Visitors can enjoy a stunning array of show cars, trucks, drag machines, bicycles, vendors, and food stalls. Highlights include the KKOA Hotrod and Kustom Auction, Run-What'ya-Brung Drags, vintage bicycle showcases, and the Model and Pedal Car Spectacular.
The event also features two beauty contests with significant cash prizes, a $5,000 award ceremony, and appearances by world-famous customizers.
Mark Your Calendars for Maggie Valley
Following the Leadsled Spectacular, Kustom Kemps of America will head to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, for the 6th Annual Icons of Hotrodding Festival on August 23-24, 2024. This event invites pre-1969 custom cars and trucks to celebrate the rich history of hot rodding with contests, races, and live rock 'n' roll performances.
