Areas of blowing dust are likely within at least portions of the warning area, perhaps reducing visibility to less than 1 mile. The most intense winds will likely last 2 to 4 hours in most locations, immediately along and behind a powerful cold front. Potentially damaging winds will start and end within the Warning area at different times, and not occur for the entire duration of the warning.

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Most counties in our area under wind advisories Thursday

Strong south and southwest winds and low relative humidity will result in dangerous fire conditions for both Thursday and Friday. 

Locations generally west of Interstate 135 will be at greatest risk Friday afternoon and early evening due to rapidly dropping relative humidity.

NWS warns of dangerous fire conditions Thursday, Friday

It will remain chilly on Wednesday with highs in the 40s. 

Stronger south winds on Thursday will send temperatures into the 50s with lower humidity values resulting in very high fire danger in the afternoon. 

It will remain windy on Friday with even warmer highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. 

A cold front will drop temperatures back into the 40s on Saturday.
