Jerry Monroe Dix July 23, 1964 - February 22, 2024

Jerry Monroe Dix, Jr, 59, passed away Thursday, February 22nd, 2024.

Jerry was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 23, 1964, a son of Linda Masterson Dix Cortouis, of Jonesboro, Arkansas and the late Jerry Dix, Sr.

Jerry was a true southern guy! He loved his Razorbacks, bologna and treet sandwiches, grilling, and, when he could, riding his motorcycle! Jerry was quick to be there for others, whether sharing a beer with a friend or supporting them when they were down on their luck.

Survivors include his children, Deven Rowland (Raymond), of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jeriann Price (Donshay), of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jerry Dix, III, of Abilene, Kansas, Olivia Dix, of Salina, Kansas, Quincy Dix, of Salina, Kansas, and Oscar Dix, of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Alexis, Brandon, Caitlyn, Eddie, Khristian, Jayce; and Jerry's best friend and former wife, Rachel Livingston (John), of Salina, Kansas.

Jerry is also survived by a sister, Terry Dix, of Nixa, Missouri; two brothers, Patrick Cortouis (Laura), of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Matthew Cortouis (Misty), of Strafford, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dix, Sr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 30th at Lamone's Event Center, 701 Bishop St., Salina, Kansas.

Ronald D. Early December 28, 1942 ~ February 26, 2024

Ronald D. Early, 81, of Ottawa. Kansas, passed away at his home on February 26, 2024, he was born December 28, 1942 in Missouri Norborne, Missouri. The son of Clyde Early, and Agnes (Andrew’s) Early. He grew up and attended school in the Rockingham community.&nbsp;

Ronald worked as a bridge Forman and retired from the Clarkson Company in Kansas City, Missouri.&nbsp;

He was united in marriage to Sheila Early on December 4, 1967 in Hardin, Missouri. They shared over 47 years of marriage before Sheila’s passing on July 28, 2015.&nbsp;

Ronald enjoyed golfing, drinking beer, and playing pool. He loved to watch his western shows on TV, especially Gunsmoke. He had a smile that could light up everything. He loved all of his family and always made sure they always had what they needed. He will be very missed by so many people.

&nbsp;A poem from his late daughter, Ronda Watson,

“If I ever need you, I’ll look to the stars above, knowing you’re out there, feeling your love, nobody on earth is more important than you, it’s always your faith that pulls me through, you deserve the sky and every star in it, for the person you are, your kindness, and will, if I could go back I wouldn’t change a thing, I realized you’re my sun when all I see is rain.”&nbsp;

Mr. Early was proceeded in death by his parents, Clyde and Agnes Early; his wife, Sheila Early; and daughter Ronda Watson.&nbsp;

Surviving family includes, son-in-law, Jeremy Watson, and granddaughters, Hayley Harlan, Kylie Minerd, Nevaeh Watson, Kyndzie Watson, Korrina Watson, Emberly Watson of Ottawa, Kansas and Hannah Harlan of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandsons, Codie Prochaska, Colton Watson, Evan Watson, and Jordan Watson and his spouse Rhyan Watson of Ottawa Kansas; and four great-grandchildren Jaylynn, Tatum, Evelynn, and Ryker; and brother Farrell Early of Missouri.&nbsp;

&nbsp;A graveside service and inurnment will be held 3 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Hope Cemetery, 100 W. 2nd Street, Ottawa, KS 66067. Robert E. Johnson, 82, of Baldwin City, KS passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.&nbsp; He was born December 16, 1941 in Baldwin City, KS the son of Earl Johnson and Margaret (Schmidt) Johnson.&nbsp; He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, KS with the Class of 1959.&nbsp;

After graduating from High School, Robert began farming with his Father.&nbsp; He also worked for Willow Springs Township, where he mowed the roadsides.&nbsp; He became a motorcycle mechanic and was a Heavy Equipment Operator for R.D. Johnson Construction and Excavating Company of Lawrence, KS.&nbsp;

Robert was united in marriage to Sandra Gensler on March 30, 1969 in Baldwin City, KS.&nbsp; They shared over fifty-four years of marriage.

Robert enjoyed racing motorcycles and midget cars; hunting and fishing; farming; tractor pulling and restoring cars.&nbsp; He will be remembered as a great, big-hearted, and very caring man who would help anyone or fix anything for anyone. He was a hero and best friend to Sandra and will be loved forever.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Johnson.

Surviving family includes his wife, Sandra Johnson of Baldwin City, KS; a sister, Karen Young of Vinland, KS; a niece, Laura Young; a nephew, Ron Young; and five great nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Donna Jean Kingan, 84, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Lincoln, KS. She was born July 7, 1939 in Hays, KS to William and Selma (Johnson) Webb. The family moved to the Westfall, KS area where Donna, brother Don, and sister Marshea enjoyed living on the farm. Donna attended school and graduated high school in Lincoln. While working at Rexall Drug Store, she met Leon Kingan. After graduating in 1957, Donna attended beauty school in Salina, KS, and after completing the course, she and Leon were married on December 29, 1957. To this union, three children were born. Donna worked as a cosmetologist until she retired at the age of 70. She was a dedicated member and pianist at Central Christian Church for 50 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, square dancing, ham radio, traveling, and cooking and baking.

Donna is survived by her son Bret Kingan of Lincoln; daughters, Barbara (Dale) Lewis of Beloit, KS and Pamela (Larry) Michael of Tescott, KS; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon, granddaughter Sheena Kingan, brother Donald Webb, and sister Marshea Sheppard.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – noon, Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Hall Chapel, Lincoln.

Graveside funeral service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Lincoln Cemetery.

Kathy J. Swisher April 7, 1958 ~&nbsp;February 27, 2024

Kathy J. Swisher passed away at Good Shepard Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas February 27, 2024. Kathy was born April 7, 1958 in Abilene, Kansas the daughter of Chester and Eunice Gay.

Kathy married Thomas Swisher on November 2, 1991. To this union two sons were born. Andrew Swisher (Luxi), Kenan Swisher (Jodie). Kathy is survived by her sons, her mother and her brother Dennis Gay and sister Sue Smith (Mark). Kathy was preceded in death by her father and husband.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Kathy would have wanted to share John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the Life. Dale F. Correll, 87, of Abilene passed away February 28, 2024. He was born September 22, 1936 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Frank and Alice (McCosh) Correll. He grew up in Detroit, Kansas and graduated from Chapman High School in 1954 and graduated from Kansas State University with a major in Business Administration. On June 9, 1955 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Lehman at the Carlton Presbyterian Church and celebrated 68 years of marriage together, making their home North of Abilene in the Buckeye community. Dale farmed and ranched in his earlier days. He worked as a brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad in Herington for several years. He was sales manager and vice-president at Wyatt Manufacturing, Salina, Kansas. He was president of Mutual Aid Association of the Church of the Brethren for many years. He finished his insurance career as owner of his own national insurance company. He was named chairman of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) and served the organization for many years. Dale was a lifelong member of the Buckeye Church of the Brethren. He also served as a board member of Symphony in the Flint Hills. Dale held many titles throughout his life but he was most proud of being a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, of the home. Children: Sally Nelson; Cindy Krehbiel (John); Debbie Tasker (Russell) and Cheryl Zumbrunn (Dennis). Grandchildren: Drew Burkholder (Athena); Kari Rook (Jarred); Will Krehbiel; Robb Krehbiel; JJ Krehbiel; Matthew Sidener (Brooke); Mark Sidener (Tori) and Alicia Kingsley (Chris). Five great-grandchildren and two siblings, Nadine Lauer and Marilyn Helmer (Martin). He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Kristin Burkholder and Joel Zumbrunn and one sister, Doris Moore. The family has chosen cremation. Esther Margreta Louise Groneman December 18, 1913 ~ February 29, 2024

Esther Margreta Louise Groneman was born December 18, 1913 &nbsp;in Lincolnville, Kansas, the daughter of Emil Krause and Augusta Schlesener Krause. She passed away at the age of 110 on February 29, 2024. &nbsp;She was baptized into the Christian faith on January 25, 1914 and confirmed on April 29, 1928 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville.

She attended Bethel School, 76 Grade School and St. John’s Lutheran School through grade 8.

She married Arthur August Henry Groneman on June 11, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. &nbsp;She lived on their farm east of Lincolnville all of her life helping her husband with milking cows, combining wheat and picking corn by hand. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, and taking care of their fruit trees. She had numerous flower beds and enjoyed growing irises, poppies, and flowers of all kinds.

Esther is survived by four children, Lois Ann Groneman, Lincolnville, Vida Mae Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS, Arthur Wayne Groneman (Kandi), and Nancy Nelson (Steve), Lincolnville, KS as well as six grandchildren: Marie Gianakon, Hutchinson; Susan Dougan (David), Stillwell, KS; Tom Gianakon, Santa Fe, NM; DeAnne Atkinson (Jeff), Palestine, TX; Karen Bassett, Midlothian, VA; and Mark Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Rick and Dawn Kohman and eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, who died on May 2, 1989 and her parents as well as three brothers, Martin, William, and Paul Krause, six sisters, Bertha Otte, Otillie Albrecht, Marie Beneke, Lena Albrecht, Martha Brockmeier, and Augusta Ollenberger.

A funeral service for Esther will be held on Monday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, Kansas. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.

She passed away at the age of 110 on February 29, 2024. &nbsp;She was baptized into the Christian faith on January 25, 1914 and confirmed on April 29, 1928 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville.She attended Bethel School, 76 Grade School and St. John’s Lutheran School through grade 8.She married Arthur August Henry Groneman on June 11, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. &nbsp;She lived on their farm east of Lincolnville all of her life helping her husband with milking cows, combining wheat and picking corn by hand. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, and taking care of their fruit trees. She had numerous flower beds and enjoyed growing irises, poppies, and flowers of all kinds.Esther is survived by four children, Lois Ann Groneman, Lincolnville, Vida Mae Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS, Arthur Wayne Groneman (Kandi), and Nancy Nelson (Steve), Lincolnville, KS as well as six grandchildren: Marie Gianakon, Hutchinson; Susan Dougan (David), Stillwell, KS; Tom Gianakon, Santa Fe, NM; DeAnne Atkinson (Jeff), Palestine, TX; Karen Bassett, Midlothian, VA; and Mark Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Rick and Dawn Kohman and eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. We are sad to announce the passing of Mary Etta (McDaniel) Rowson in Palm Desert, California, on Friday, February 23rd. Born on April 20, 1936, in Salina, Kansas, Mary was a strong and caring person and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Jack Rowson, her parents Crawford and Margaret (Kern) McDaniel, her brother George McDaniel, and her sister Sara Holmes. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Spellman, her children Mark Rowson (Michele), Carl Rowson (Pam), and Candace Futch (Dave), her adored grandchildren Heather Rowson-White (Scott), Tori Davis and Tana Rose Burkett (Kyle), and her great-grandson Odin White. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Mary's life journey was one of resilience and devotion to family. Growing up on a farm outside Salina, she cultivated an indomitable spirit and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family. After graduating from the Brown Mackie School of Business, Mary met Jack with whom she shared many adventures in business and in life.

Throughout her life, Mary dedicated herself to nurturing her family and building a loving home. Together with Jack, she embarked on various entrepreneurial ventures, owning businesses ranging from banks to restaurants to franchises. Despite the challenges of relocating for business opportunities, Mary's steadfast commitment to her family never wavered.

After the loss of Jack in 1989, Mary pursued her own entrepreneurial opportunities, starting with the travel business, Awesome Adventures. She also held various roles with Capitol Federal Banks, Kaw Valley Banks, Santa Fe Credit Union, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and the Menninger Foundation. However, it was her 13 years of service supporting senators and representatives at the Kansas Legislature that brought her the greatest fulfillment.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary was a true artist in every sense of the word. She found joy in singing with Sweet Adelines chapters for over 25 years, dancing at the Croco ballroom where she was often asked to sing with the band and expressing her creativity and flair through crafting and tole painting, a talent that she taught in every city in which she lived. &nbsp;Mary's passion for life extended to her involvement in church and various organizations, including her impactful work with Hospice, where her dedication to patients for over 20 years earned her recognition and gratitude.

In her final years, Mary resided in Kyle, TX, and Palm Desert, CA. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 10:00 am on March 11th at the Topeka First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan St, Topeka, followed by a 3:00 pm graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery in Salina, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Hospice or the American Cancer Society in her honor.

Mary will forever remain in our hearts as an example of love, strength, and grace. Her memory will continue to brighten our lives, and her love will guide us always.

He was a farmer and stockman and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church&nbsp;of rural Ellsworth.&nbsp;He also served his country in the US Army&nbsp;and was a proud member of the NRA.

&nbsp;Tom&nbsp;is survived by his sister, Susan Hulse of Kanopolis; nephew, Joshua Hulse (Melissa) of Culver; nephew, Toby Hulse (Abby) of Ellsworth; and great nieces and nephews, August and Lillian Hulse; and Hunter, Gunner, Walter, and Maisy Hulse. He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Paul Virgason, a beloved resident of Salina, KS, passed away on February 26, 2024, at the age of 62. He was born on October 2, 1961, in Wichita, KS.

Paul's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was a loving father to his son TJ Virgason and daughter-in-law Amanda Virgason, as well as an "adopted" father to Bryan and Haylee Bowden and many other "adopted" children. His granddaughters, Kyra McGilvray and Morgan Virgason, were his pride and joy, bringing him immense happiness and fulfillment.

Paul was educated by the Salina school system, and he graduated as an edumacated man at Salina High School South and took the auto mechanics course at Salina Vo-tech.

In his professional life, Paul held many titles, and he enriched each workplace with his dedication and unrelenting sense of humor. He dedicated 28 years to Exline, followed by his "time served" at Tony's Pizza Events Center (Bicentennial Center) and Central Kansas Salvage. He never forgot his musical roots and worked as a drummer for hire for several years, mostly hired by his son and friends on their various musical endeavors. The last few years of his life he spent studying the medical profession as a professional training dummy/medical marvel, flirting with nurses and doctors and being a part of the Nielson TV Family.

Paul was a frequent flyer of the Worship Service Only Club at CrossRoads Church. He attended almost every service for the last 4 years to show his continued support for his son. Paul was the best on-call mechanic everyone knew; his advice was always, "Hold your tongue just right, cuss it a few times and things tend to go how you need." The “Dog House" was always open as a safe haven for all who needed comfort and care.

Paul's diverse interests included a passion for animals, music, anything with a motor and his sobriety. Paul joined his son on the path of sobriety and was alcohol free for 2 years and 8 months. He was a die-hard KISS collector and a familiar face at many local shows. He spent a lot of free time sitting behind his beloved double-cannon Pearl drum kit rocking along with his massive Headbanger's Ball VHS collection or behind the wheel of his truck, affectionately known as MYNE.

Paul spent many summers with friends traveling in "The Rolling Dog House." He spent time teaching his son how to ride dirt bikes and quads in Waynoka, OK (Little Sahara Desert); weeklong camping trips with his buddies and loved to attend Country Stampede for the electric musical performances and colorful community.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen Sue Quinn; one grandchild; his biological brother, Wayne Barkus; his close friend, Robert McGilvray; and his fur babies, Shadow, Pasa, and Smokey; as well as his grand-dogs, Duchess, Tink, Buddy; and grand­cat Spazzy.

Paul is survived by his father, Lynn Virgason and mother, Helen Virgason; biological mother, Sue Webber; son, T. J. Virgason and daughter-in-law, Amanda Virgason; 2 granddaughters, Kyra McGilvray (Jennifer McGilvray-mother) and Morgan Virgason; siblings, Stephanie Virgason Chappelle, Donna Rozell, Greg Barkus; his dog, Dixie and his ferret, Ratt (Rosco), lovingly cared for by a family friend. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless other friends, "family" and souls touched by his genuine, caring, and selfless nature.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held at CrossRoads Church in Salina, KS, on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 3:30 PM. Please wear your favorite band shirt in Paul’s honor. The family expresses deep gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time, including the healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and community members who showed kindness and compassion.

Maxine L. Lindsay, 94, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.&nbsp; She was born May 24, 1929, to Fred and Rose (Power) Tomanek, in Collyer.&nbsp; Maxine graduated from high school, business college in Denver, CO and attended Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; She was employed as a secretary in the Vice President Office at Fort Hays State University.

On August 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to F.C. Rupp Jr. at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; On October 1, 1966, she was united in marriage to Duane B. Lindsay in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; Before Duane’s death, they celebrated 55 years together.

While living in Hays, she was a past President for Business and Professional Women’s Organization; President for the 9076 VFW Auxiliary; and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.&nbsp;

Maxine is survived by a son, Charles (Mary Lou) Rupp, of Salina; four granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; one nephew and four nieces.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands, F.C. Rupp and Duane B. Lindsay; daughter, Charlotte Rupp Harvey; infant grandson, Darren Montgomery; brother Laverne Tomanek; sister-in-law, Darlene Tomanek; nephews, Danny and Rodney Tomanek.

Maxine was a person who loved God and her Faith, she always sacrificed for the benefit of others.&nbsp; She was quick to laugh and treasured life’s simple pleasures in her later life.&nbsp;

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with Fr. Keith Weber as celebrant, rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m.&nbsp; Maxine selected cremation and a private inurnment will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorial masses may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Patrick Allen White, 56, of Baldwin City, KS died Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born August 12, 1967 at the United States Embassy in Tehran, Iran the son of Roger and Anita (Patrick) White.&nbsp; He graduated from Fauquier High School with the class of 1985.&nbsp;

On March 21, 2009, Patrick was united in marriage to Cindy Sullivan at Marshall Methodist Church in Marshall, Virginia.

Patrick worked at P.A.R.K. Group LLC as a property manager and maintenance man.&nbsp; He was also the manager of a Subway.&nbsp;

Patrick enjoyed video games and going on vacation.&nbsp; He was always volunteering his time to others, and could often be found helping neighbors with various projects.&nbsp; He was a good spirit that was friendly to his community, and he loved to visit with people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Anita White, and a step daughter, Karia McCoy.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy White of the home; a step daughter, Alisha McCoy of Bealeton, VA; two step grandsons, Brayden Pullen of Bealeton, VA and Ricky Lee Padgett III of Catlett, VA; a sister, Kimberly White Kiechlin and her husband, Paul, of Fairfax, VA; 5 nieces, 6 nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and some cousins.

Vivian Jegen, 94 of Salina, formerly of Manchester passed away Monday, February 26, 2024. She was born March 30, 1929 in Manchester, the daughter of William and Ester (Chase) Gish. 

She graduated from Chapman High School in 1947. On March 12, 1950 she was united in marriage to John Jegen in Manchester. He preceded her in death January 13, 2005. Vivian grew up in Manchester and she spent all of her married life there until moving to Salina in 2005. 

She is survived by a son, Jonathan Jegen of Salina and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Janine M. Schaich, 66 of Abilene passed away February 27, 2024. She was born November 10, 1957 in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Lyle and Beverley (Elssasser) Enyart. She graduated from Chapman High School in the class of 1975. On June 4, 1983 she was united in marriage to Russell D. Schaich at the Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene. 

Janine worked various jobs. She was a Para at the Abilene Middle School and High School. She was also executive director and activity director for the Sterling House. She also worked at Jostens. She was active at the Faith Lutheran Church, playing the organist for years and also was involved in being the youth group leader. Janine is survived by her husband, Russell. 

Her children: Joshua Capsey; Nichole Maddy and Brooke Haley and husband Brian. Grandchildren: Andrew, Hunter, Dylan and Katy Capsey; Lexie, Cara and Macy Maddy and Logan Haley. Her siblings: Jeannette Fenton; Jenise Braden; Collette Crist; Colleen Nicholas; Christine Herrmann; Carla Shaw and Tim Wieters. The family has chosen cremation.

Donnie was born on August 27, 1946, in McPherson, KS, the son of Virgil Laverne and Mildred Pauline (Theleman) Bahr.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He served in the Kansas Army National Guard and worked as an electrician.

Sister Rita Ann Mazanec died February 27, 2024, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was 94 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 73 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Colby, KS on February 3, 1930 to Adolph and Hattie Kobza Mazanec, the sixth of seven children, and was baptized Irene Joan.&nbsp;&nbsp;She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on September 8, 1949.&nbsp;&nbsp;On March 18, 1950, Irene received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Rita Ann.&nbsp;&nbsp;She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1951 and final vows on August 15, 1954.&nbsp;

Sister Rita Ann received a BA degree in History from Marymount College in 1968.&nbsp;&nbsp;She taught primary grades in Aurora, IL; Tipton, Plainville and Aurora, KS; Fairbury, NE, Beloit and Oakley, KS for a total of 42 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;After retirement she moved to Concordia and did various duties and served as bookkeeper for the community.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2007 she moved to the Motherhouse.

During her marriage to second husband, Eric (Rick) Erickson, she went into hotel hospitality management together with Rick. Ardy also worked as a bookkeeper and in banking.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ben Allison, husband of 33 years, Eric Erickson, and her children; R. Nicholas Pflumm and Allison Pflumm&nbsp;Gudikunst&nbsp;and grandson, Ricardo Pflumm. Survivors include her children; Lauri Pflumm Guidry and Garot Pflumm (Marisol); stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Eddy) Malik and ten grandchildren along with six great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 1-2 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2024 with a service starting at 2 pm at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.

Marilyn Jo (Lank) Homolka March 19, 1944 ~ February 26, 2024

Marilyn Jo Homolka, 79, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 in Salina, KS. She was born March 19, 1944 in Ellsworth, KS to Joe and Emilie (Mattas) Lank. Marilyn married James Homolka in Ellsworth on November 9, 1968. She was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County where she was a member of Ellsworth Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 174 Auxiliary. She worked at Citizen’s State Bank for 43 years, retiring as a loan officer in 2010.

Marilyn is survived by her husband James Homolka of Ellsworth; son Ryan Homolka (Michelle) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Sumner and Sophia; sisters, Janet Peppiatt (Sam) of Garland, TX and Linda Heitschmidt (Art) of Wichita, KS; brother Terry Lank (Darlene) of Moundridge, KS; and sister-in-law Gayle Lank of Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Lank.

Marilyn loved spending time with her family and grandkids. She also kept very busy playing cards and bunco. You could find her several afternoons sitting around a card table enjoying her large circle of friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and those friends.

Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will be present 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Ellsworth Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial following at Palacky Cemetery.

Gerald Oscar Rindt February 13, 1934 ~ February 24, 2024

Gerald Oscar Rindt was born February 13, 1934, to Oscar and Nora (Heideman) Rindt, at the family farm west of White City, Ks. Gerald attended #4 District File School, north of Latimer, Ks, for his elementary education. Gerald graduated from Herington high School with the class of 1952. Gerald joined the Air Force in 1957, serving until 1961 as a mechanic, working primarily on C-133 cargo planes in Dover, DE. After his military service, Gerald returned to the family farm to work with his parents. On May 24, 1964, he married Sherril (Taylor) Clark, of Council Grove, KS, including her three sons in the marriage. A daughter, Kristi, was born in 1965, completing the family. Gerald worked off farm jobs, including the Fairmont Creamery in Council Grove, and Welch Manufacturing at the Herington air base.

In the late 1970s continuing to live on and operate the farm was no longer an option, and Gerald moved his family to Salina, Ks, where he took a job at Wyatt Manufacturing for a short while. He then started his 30 + year career as a truck driver. He hauled flour, propane, and fuel during his driving career. After deciding to stop driving the truck, Gerald worked for MHC, a Kenworth truck dealer, in their parts department for several years, before retiring in 2014. Gerald loved spending time with his family. Holidays were always a special time to catch up with everyone, talk about farming and all the changes in machinery. He always enjoyed driving in the countryside and looking at crops, construction projects and every season in Kansas. Gerald is survived by his children, Keith Clark, Ken (Cheryl) Clark, Jim Clark, and Kristi (Ben) Meyer, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Bonnie Taylor, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Gerald passed away on February 24, 2024, at his home in Herington. He was preceded in death by his parents, &nbsp;his brother Charles Rindt, sister-in-law Eleanor Rindt, and brother-in-law Dennis Taylor. A graveside service with be held at St. Johns Cemetery, west of White City, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 am, where Gerald will be laid to rest. All are welcome to attend.
