Laura Belle Brewer, was born on November 29, 1929, near Latimer, the daughter of Theodore Walter and Mae Katherine (McCann) Kasten.&nbsp; She died on December 7, 2019, at Diversicare of Council Grove.

Laura Belle worked at Fort Riley, in her early years; and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She married Jerry F. Brewer on November 12, 1977, in the First Baptist Church of Junction City; he survives of Council Grove.&nbsp; Also survived by her brother Clyde Kasten and his wife Ardella of Latimer.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with Pastor Darrell Geist, officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30am until 12:00noon at the Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel.

Carolyn Elaine Lehner, 82 of Abilene passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at Village Manor Nursing Home in Abilene. She was born January 23, 1937 in Junction City, the daughter of Ernest and Geraldine (Seubert) Norman. Carolyn graduated from Chapman High School in 1955. On May 28, 1960 she was united in marriage to Harold Lehner in Abilene. He preceded her in death January 2, 2017. Carolyn worked as a maid at the White House Inn in Abilene.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Peggy Chronister and husband Mark, two sons, Robert Lehner and wife Marci and Richard Lehner and wife Venus. One grandson, Kirk Chronister and one great-granddaughter, Rydia Chronister. Two brothers, Jerry and Gail Norman and one sister, Yvonne Silver. She was preceded in death by his parents, husband and one grandson, Scott Chronister.

Services for Carolyn will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Life House Church in Abilene with Pastor Kerry Coup officiating. “Bev” Beverly Jean Schmutz, 79 of Abilene passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Salina Regional Medical Center. She was born November 24,1940 the daughter of Ralph “Pete” and Phyllis (Dobbins) Schmutz. Bev grew up in the Abilene area, attended the local school districts and graduated from Abilene High School in 1958. She attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University, and later went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrative from Kansas State University. She worked for nearly 30 years at Ft. Riley In Civil Service, retiring in 1993. She also worked 11 years at the Alco Central Office and was also the National Prayer Director for Suitable Helpers Ministries.

Bev is survived by her son, Robert Schmutz and wife Angel of Haven, Kansas. Four grandchildren, Micah Hilbert (and husband Kord) of Hays, Genesis, Zephaniah, &amp; Ezra Schmutz. One brother, Larry Schmutz of Nixa, MO, two sisters, Naoma Foltz, and Sharon Schmutz of Abilene, a number of Beloved Nieces and Nephews And a host of friends who she loved like family! She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dale and Gordon “Pete” Schmutz and one sister, Dotty White.

Dorothy Adams Gay passed away December 6, 2019 at 10:50 a.m.&nbsp; She was born to Hubert and Evelyn Bussart Adams on September 2, 1935.&nbsp; She graduated from Minneapolis High School and then from Brown Mackie in Salina, KS.&nbsp; She met and married James Robert Browder and moved to West Memphis, AR.&nbsp; While living in West Memphis, Dorothy had three Children; Melonie, Melissa and Jimmy Browder.&nbsp; She founded, organized and was Chairman of the Board of the Girl's Club of West Memphis, West Memphis, AR in the early 1970's. Each year since, the Girls Club has serviced at least 500 girls each year.&nbsp; Dorothy and James divorced in 1980.&nbsp;

While working as a secretary at the then St. Joseph Hospital&nbsp;in Memphis, TN she met David Lee Gay and married in 1981. They lived very happily until his death September 22, 1999.

Dorothy retired from FedEx as a Manager in the Hub.&nbsp; She enjoyed being around her family, traveling, painting, music, crocheting, quilting, sewing, ceramics, cooking and decorating.&nbsp; She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Branch, MS.&nbsp; She had a deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Melonie; her son, Jim; her husband, David; her brother- in- law, Larry Newman and great grandson, Zach Watson.&nbsp; She is survived by her daughter Melissa Browder; her 5 grandchildren, Ronny Bennett (Linda) of Tennessee, Adam Bennett (Barbara) of Mississippi, Christopher Green of Mississippi, Elizabeth Justice of Mississippi and Stephanie Green of Texas; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sisters Darlene Thomas (Duane) of Kansas,&nbsp; June Sechrist (Gary) of Kansas, Donna Newman of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, KS on Thursday, December 12 from 5:00 pm-7:00pm. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 13 at the First Baptist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, KS.

Sue was a 1974 graduate of Esbon High School. Sue was active in Basketball and was a cheerleader during high school years. She was a graduate of Crum’s Beauty College in Manhattan, Kansas. Sue worked as a beautician in Smith Center, Kansas and later Denver Colorado.

She enjoyed dancing and being with family and friends.

Howard's life began on March 13, 1972 in Colorado Spring, CO where his father was stationed at Fort Carson.  He was the son of Richard and Jane (Summers) O'Connor. 

He is a 1990 graduate of Marion High School, attended Butler County Community College and served his country in the United States Army. 

 After leaving the military Howard found work as a finishing plumber and later as a machinist. 

 He enjoyed volunteering at the Marion Food Bank and was an avid reader. 

 Howard and his father Richard also enjoyed restoring their muscle cars together. 

 His loving family includes his parents Richard and Jane O'Connor of Marion, brother Michael (Christine) O'Connor and sister Verlenia (Samual) Hall of Hillsboro; nephews and niece Patrick, Sean and Madelyn O'Connor; aunts and uncles John (Lynna) Summers of Oklahoma, Edward Summers of Marion and Virginia (Ronald) Mauck of Whitewater and grandmother Iris Summers of Marion. 

 Howard passed away at his home on December 3, 2019. 

 He is preceded in death by his grandparents John Summers, Sr., Verlenia and Amos O'Conner. 

 Howard's family will gather with friends on Tuesday December 10, 2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m.  He will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery with military honors following the service. Howard Edward O'Connor

Rosanlee "Rosie" Holt, age 93, was born on August 15, 1926 at Keighley, KS (Butler County) to Solan and Lillian Holt. He was called to his Heavenly Home on December 7, 2019. Rosanlee and Twila Gene Longenecker were married on December 27, 1951 at the Zion Brethren in Christ Church. Lifelong sweethearts, they lived near and in Talmage, KS all of their married life except for 2 years when they served in voluntary service for the Mennonite Central Committee in Ontario, Canada.

Rosanlee attended Hope Grade School and Chapman High School. Rosanlee earned his GED.

Rosanlee is a member of the Emmanuel Church, Abilene, KS. Formerly, he taught the Junior High School Sunday school class for 32 years at the Zion Brethren in Christ Church. He and Twila enjoyed taking the Junior high students on various outings and, the infamous, Juicy Fruit gum treats.

Rosanlee and Twila operated a farming and hog operation near Talmage for over 40 years. They also owned and operated Holt Trucking, custom swathing and other custom farming operations, CRP grass planting and tree cutting businesses. They sponsored the Talmage Girls softball team and the Holt Truckliners Women’s softball team for many years.

In 1982, Rosanlee realized a life-long dream to become an auctioneer and realtor. As a result of this, Rosanlee and Twila built the T. G. Holt Auction and Realty business.

Twila and Rosanlee were 4-H Leaders for the Talmage Progressive 4-H Club. Twila and Rosanlee were actively involved in revitalizing the Talmage Senior Center with Twila serving as President.

Rosanlee loved to work with people and enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee. He and Twila were avid campers and belonged to the Lazy Swingers campers club. He was active with the camping club as an officer and served on the State Campers Club Executive Council for a number of years planning local and state activities. Rosanlee was a member of the Talmage Lion’s Club. He enjoyed bowling on leagues and just for fun with friends on Saturday night. He discovered that building and destroying cars was also fun when the demolition derby became a sport.

Always one to be busy and helping, Rosanlee could be found pushing snow from a variety of driveways in Talmage after a snowstorm and always finding time to help neighbors with farming and mowing when a physical injury or tragedy hit.

Rosanlee is survived by his wife, Twila, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Ray Morgan of Talmage; and Sandra and Richard Allen of Bentley. Five grandchildren: Raquel Chavez, Overland Park; Brooke (Scott Stoecklein) Morgan, Olathe; Ryan (Cortney) Morgan, Derby; Joshua (Corey) Allen, Salina; Nathan (Ally) Allen, Wellington; 9 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Larry Holt of Salina, KS; and one sister, Juanita Whittington, Santa Clarita, CA.

Rosanlee was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mildred Landis and two brothers: Norman Holt and Alvern Holt.

The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Abilene Emmanuel Church with Pastor Gordon McClure officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prairiedale Cemetery at a later date.

Rosanlee "Rosie" Holt

Terry Doty, 72, went to be with his creator and savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019. Terry was born Aug. 31, 1947 in Hood River, Ore., and lived in Salina most of his life, graduating from Salina Central High School.

He spent two years 67-68 with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked at Grain Belt Supply for eight years and retired from ADM Milling after 33 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1432 and the American Legion. Terry gave his heart to Jesus Christ in 1999 and loved his church family as much as his extended family.

He is survived by: his wife, Donna; brother, James Doty of Apache Junction, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Greta Doty of Wichita; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his father, Raymond Doty and mother, Stella Doty; brother, Floyd Doty; sister, Norma Windholz; and nephew, Ronnie Doty.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Faith Bible Church, 2100 Quincy, Salina.

Terry was born Aug. 31, 1947 in Hood River, Ore., and lived in Salina most of his life, graduating from Salina Central High School.He spent two years 67-68 with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked at Grain Belt Supply for eight years and retired from ADM Milling after 33 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1432 and the American Legion. Terry gave his heart to Jesus Christ in 1999 and loved his church family as much as his extended family.He is survived by: his wife, Donna; brother, James Doty of Apache Junction, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Greta Doty of Wichita; and many nieces and nephews. Robert Lee “Bob” Bacon, 87, a resident of Garden City, KS since 1964, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 5, 2019. He was born on September 30, 1932 the only child of Albert “Lee” Leland and Rosaline (Knaak) Bacon in McPherson, KS. He grew up and attended schools in McPherson, graduating from McPherson High School in 1951. Robert served the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was stationed in Korea and Japan as a clerk in the medics. After returning home, he attended two and a half years at McPherson College and was owner/operator of McPherson Recreation Pool and Dominoes. He retired from the State of Kansas as a weight officer and went on to drive a school bus and was security officer at Inland Container and Val-Agra. His hobbies were hunting, trap shooting, bowling, and playing snooker with his customized cue stick. He never knew a stranger. He loved giving people a hard time and joking. He was patient, loving, understanding, encouraging and the kindest soul. He loved God, his family and his beloved cats. He is survived by: his 3 children and their spouses; Bobbie Lynn Sanem (Scott) of Frisco, TX, Valerie Lee Piccone (Tony) of Garden City, KS, and Bryan Layne Bacon (Christy) of Kimberly, ID; twelve grandchildren, Tony Ornelas, III (Tara, Zach Sanem (Stefanie, Lissa Taylor (Chad, Tiffany Ornelas (Ryan, Audrey Sanem, Alonna Sanem, Ashlynn Bacon, Aspen Bacon, Jonah Bacon, Eli Bacon, Kimberlee Bacon, and Brynna Piccone; five great-grandchildren, Triniti, Mia, Cami, Lathan, and Harlee; and three beloved cats; Sweetie, Honey, and Rosina. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Friday December 13, 2019, at 11:00 am at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS.

Three Step-Grandchildren – Aaron Walker, Hannah Walker, and Caleb Walker; and 3 Great Grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.&nbsp;&nbsp; Harold married his high school sweetheart, June Wettig on June 24th, 1956 in the White City United Methodist Church.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was very proud of his family, friends, and military service. He lived in White City virtually his entire life except for the 4 years he served in the Air Force, two years of which he was stationed in Alaska. Upon his discharge in 1954, Harold returned to White City and purchased E.G. Larson Lumber and Hardware, changing the name to Anderson Lumber and Hardware, and owning/operating it for 35 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;While operating the business, Harold also was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a substitute rural mail carrier for 28 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Upon selling the business, he served as the full time carrier for 3 years before retiring.&nbsp;&nbsp; Harold was very active in the community serving numerous years on the City Council; briefly as Mayor; on the fire department, ambulance service and various other community organizations.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a proud, 65-year member of the White City American Legion and a member of the Freemasons.&nbsp;&nbsp; Family, friends, God, music and traveling were special to him.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed singing and playing music with his friends in a band and in his “Pickin’ Shack”.&nbsp;&nbsp;His sense of humor, smile, and good nature will be dearly missed.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was known for his cheerful attitude and always had a joke or story at the ready.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ﻿Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the White City United Methodist Church or the White City American Legion.

Harold Anderson

She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Herndon to Walter and Lora (Cox) Zwickle. Phyllis grew up on farms near Herndon and Oberlin. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1952 and attended several colleges during her lifetime without earning a degree. She started her career with the federal government at Schilling Air Force Base in 1960, working as a clerk stenographer. She spent the bulk of her career working as a civilian personnel management specialist at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, and the Air Force plant representative office at Boeing in Wichita. She retired in 1994 as personnel officer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Kansas. She was married to Clarence Nicholson and William Fox. Both marriages ended in divorce. She was an avid duplicate bridge enthusiastic, achieving the rank of sapphire life master in the American Contract Bridge League, and was also an ACBL certified director. Her greatest bridge love was teaching bridge, which she did several years at Arapahoe Community College and Jewish Community Center, both in Denver, and through the CLASS program in Salina. She was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Immanuel and Reformed Church in Herndon and maintained a loyalty to and affection for the church and its teachings throughout her lifetime. In later years she also embraced the teaching of Unity School of Practical Religion. In 1998, she became a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one son, Rick and wife Bonnie Nicholson, of Salina; grandchildren, Rachel Ann and husband Sam Lada, of Salina, and Timothy John Nicholson, of Topeka, who were the light of her life; brother, Wayne and wife Phyllis Zwickle; two nephews; two nieces; and William Knox, her favorite partner in life and bridge. She was preceded in death by son, Randy Nicholson, on April 5, 1996; father, Walter Zwickle, on Feb. 26, 1993; and mother, Lora Zwickle, on Jan. 4, 2010.Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Ryan Mortuary. Alderson on Sept. 10, 1946 in Concordia, Kansas and to this marriage 8 children were born, Marjean, Stan, Sally, Blair, Brad, Jerry, Robert and Joel.&nbsp;He preceded her in Oct. 2000.&nbsp;She worked for 15 years as an engraver for the Blue Ribbon Trophy Co in Buena Park, CA and later worked as an area supervisor and office staff for ALCO in Concordia for 15 years.&nbsp;Upon her retirement, she worked at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of Clyde, VFW Post #588 Ladies Auxiliary of Concordia &amp; past member of the E.H.U. She will be fondly remembered by her family, many friends, and numerous church family members. Some of Jayne’s favorite pastimes included cheering on the K-State Wildcats, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, crocheting projects for friends and family, creating new recipes, hosting holiday gatherings, and playing with her beloved dogs. Jayne loved to care for others and was especially encouraging to church friends and family. She was a member of United Methodist Church of the Cross in Salina and taught preschool at Angel Academy Preschool there. Later, she worked as a paraeducator in special education at Whittier-Bartlett and Cottonwood Elementary School. When not working and into retirement, Jayne enjoyed listening to music and finding new artists to share. She always tuned in to Cross Points Church out of Shawnee, Kan., where she loved to listen to son-in-law Dru lead worship. Jayne is survived by: her husband, Daryl Holechek of Salina; daughter, Morgan Davis (Dru) of Kansas City; mother, Shirley (Newell) Henthorn; brothers, Mike and Matt Henthorn; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by: her father, Robert Henthorn; and sister, Terri Green. Steven Christopher “Chris” Seidl

James Joseph “Jim” Bezemek, 94, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in Ellsworth. He was born April 22, 1925, on his grandfather’s family farm homestead in Ellsworth County, Kansas, to Joseph and Agnes (Benes) Bezemek. He graduated eighth grade from Oxide Country School number 40 and Lorraine High School in 1943.&nbsp;Jim was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the 79th Infantry Division in Europe, including the Normandy Invasion at Utah Beach in June 1944, and the liberation of the concentration camp at Buchenwald in 1945. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to farming. He was a life member of the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485 and the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174.&nbsp;Jim retired after 37 years with the Ellsworth County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Ellsworth Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Salina Isis Shrine. He enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, and traveling, especially to 79th Division Army reunions and VFW National Conventions.&nbsp;Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Anna J. Bezemek and Blanche Hammond. She married William Omar Dutton on Oct. 24, 1946 in Webster, SD.&nbsp;He preceded her in death on May 26, 2000.&nbsp;Eleanor was a great Mom, homemaker and hardworking farm wife.&nbsp;In the later years, she lived with her daughter in Grandbury, TX and her daughter in Navarre, FL, which they laughingly called their co-custody of Mom.&nbsp;There was much love and laughter had on these visits. She is survived by her daughters, Vikki Gilbreath (Carroll, Grandbury, TX &amp; Denise Hanein, Navarre, FL; a son, Dixon Dutton, Concordia; grandchildren, Robert Burton (Rebecca, Chad Guest (Kristin) &amp; Stephen Hanein; great grandchildren, Harper Burton &amp; Blake Burton; sisters, Evelyn Hanson &amp; Beverly Hanson; sister in law, Joyce Schlader &amp; numerous family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar; her parents; brothers, Clifford, Clarence, Harold &amp; George Schlader &amp; a sister, Dorothy Suter. Shuler, daughter of Raymond Beller and Ramona (Newman) Beller was born July 24, 1953 at Colby, Kansas and passed away on December 2, 2019 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 8 days. Wanda graduated from Belleville High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;She graduated from Cosmetology School in Salina, KS and was a beautician and worked in the Belleville community for 47 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was united in marriage to Dwight L. Isaacson in 1973 and to this union three sons were born, Greg, Brian, Eric.&nbsp;Dwight passed away on March 26, 1994.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was united in marriage to Don Shuler in 1999. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Belleville, KS. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren and nieces for golf cart rides and unlimited treats.&nbsp;Her sense of humor and care free lifestyle kept everyone smiling.&nbsp;Wanda loved to go country cruising in search of an adventure, or just to see what was going on in the world.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Beller, husband, Dwight L. Isaccson.
