Hayes, 76, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019.&nbsp;He was born in Houston, Texas to Doris Brown Hayes and Howard H. Hayes.&nbsp;He had one sibling, Cynthia Fischer.&nbsp;Buck grew up in Pratt, Kansas.&nbsp;He married his wife, Marsha 55 years ago.&nbsp;They spent most of their married life in Derby, Kansas.&nbsp;Buck worked the majority of his career at Boeing Wichita.&nbsp;The couple moved to Council Grove full-time when Buck retired in 2000. Buck enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, woodworking, and made many memories with his many friends. Buck is survived by his wife, Marsha (Terrel) Hayes and his son, Mark Alan Hayes of his home in Council Grove; granddaughter, Catherine Lynn Hayes; son-in-law, Robert B. Welch.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and daughter, Lee Ann (Hayes) Welch. In lieu of flowers,&nbsp;memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Buck. Buck B. Hayes

<img alt="Gary Edwin Cummings" src="https://tributecenteronline.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/Obituaries/8892464/Thumbnail.JPG" class="avatar">Gary Edwin Cummings completed his earthly assignment on November 11, 2019 and went to be with the Lord in his new heavenly home. He was born on August 10, 1933 in Wakeeney, Kansas to Edward and Myrtle Cummings. As a young man, he worked for Farmers and Ranchers rounding up cattle on horseback, and harvesting wheat, hay, and other crops. In 1951 he joined the Air Force where he met the love of his life, a telephone operator in Springfield, Massachusetts. After receiving his honorable discharge, he was then employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, 2 months, and 13 days as a lineman on up to Area Manager. Retiring in 1991, he expanded his love for fishing by entering professional bass fishing tournaments. Gary was a fun loving, and jovial man who was always ready with a joke and a smile. He truly enjoyed people and was always ready to brighten someone’s day. It is said that he never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jody; son, Michael; daughter, April Robichaud (Gilbert); four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Gary loved the Lord, and had no fear of death. It is certain that Heaven is truly rejoicing at his homecoming! A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at First Covenant Church, Salina. Ruth Marie McEntee (Garlock, age 78 of Burr Oak, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and other health issues in the past year. Ruth was one of 13 children born on September 28, 1941 to the late Vern and Wilma (Bennett) Garlock in Courtland, Kansas. As a teenager she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to live with an older sister and attended Westport High School while helping the family. She was a waitress for Thompson’s and Connie’s Kansas City restaurants. She was loved and adored by customers. While working at Kats’ Drug store, where she met her husband, Edward McEntee. They were married April 18, 1960 and had 5 children. A loving mother and homemaker, Ruth was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a talented seamstress and made beautiful draperies and curtains for customers. In retirement she and her husband traveled. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweetness and wonderful sense of humor. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Edward McEntee and her infant son, David McEntee, 4 brothers, Gerald, Jack, Myron, and Gary Garlock, 4 sisters, Thelma Key, Joan Rogers, Marjorie Hoffman, and Judy Hayes. <h1>Sylvia (Winter) Helmer</h1>April 16, 1930&nbsp;~&nbsp;November 10, 2019&nbsp;(age 89) Sylvia's life began on April 16, 1930, on the family farm in rural Lincolnville.&nbsp;She was the daughter of Fred and Kathrina (Brunner) Winter and her stepmother Frieda (Budde) Winter.&nbsp; Sylvia is a 1947 graduate of Lincolnville High School, a graduating class of just eight students. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as a youth.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Jack Helmer on March 13, 1952 in Marion.&nbsp;Sylvia was a member of the Eastmoor United Methodist Church and worked with the ladies of the church on funeral dinners and other events.&nbsp; She was an excellent baker, known for her cherry pies and angel food cakes. Sylvia enjoyed painting the woodworking projects that Jack made.&nbsp;She was good at needlework and loved to travel.&nbsp; Sylvia was a member of the Neo-Century Club and the VFW Auxiliary for several years.&nbsp;&nbsp; Sylvia's greatest joy was her family which includes her children Shirley (Gordon) Groening of Marion and Kendall (Melinda) Helmer of Wichita; grandchildren Kristin (Matt) Brenzikofer,&nbsp;Jenny (Aaron) Acree, Leslie (Seth) Beytien, and Lauren (Tim) Hartland; great-grandchildren Brennen&nbsp;and Hanna Acree, Adalyn, Avery, and Nora Hartland and Vivian Beytien; her brother Alvin Winter of Marion and sister in law Wanda Winter of Salina and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Sylvia entered into her heavenly house while surrounded by family on November 10, 2019 at Marion Assisted Living. Funeral services for Ruby A. Carpenter, age 77, of Enterprise, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Ms. Carpenter passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She was born September 14, 1942 in Hope, Kansas the daughter of Ervin and Almeda (Base) Jantz. She attended grade school in Hope and Abilene. Ruby was a nurse aide and also worked construction driving a dump truck. She enjoyed puzzles and playing cards, but her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Tanner of Solomon, sons Donnie Thompson of Harden, Kentucky, Russ Thompson of Cunningham, Kentucky, Kevin Thompson of Harden, Kentucky, Joel Thompson of Harden, Kentucky, Phillip Thompson of Solomon, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lauralee Thompson, son Kenneth Thompson, brothers Ivan and Robert Jantz, sister Cindy Willis, and her parents. Cremation is planned. Sandra Kay “Sandy” Larson, 80, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. She was born in Galesburg, Ill., to LeRoy and Francis (Mitchel) Copeland.In her spare time, she loved doing ceramics and crafts. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and was a member of Delphos Lions. Spending time with her family was always the most important thing to her.Survivors include: her spouse, Jack of the home; children, Cindy Bietz (Mark) of Delphos, and Timothy Larson of Effingham, Ill.; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. Betty Blanche Koukol, the daughter of W. Newell Axtell and W. Joe Sorell, age 50, formerly of Clyde, entered into rest on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at his current residence in Clifton, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on August 30, 1969 in Concordia, Kansas to Jerry and Kathleen (Alexander) Sorell.Joe was a 1988 Clifton-Clyde Graduate.&nbsp;He attended Cloud County Community College, Concordia.He married Jennifer Nicholas, April of 1988 in Clyde, Kansas and they later divorced.&nbsp;To this marriage two children were born Autumn and Zach Sorell.Joe worked in the Maintenance Department at the Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;Joe also mowed several lawns with his son Zach in the Clyde and Clifton Communities.&nbsp;Joe also did custodial work for the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde.Joe and along with his brother Judd were prior owners of Last Call Bar and Grill in Clyde for several years.&nbsp;Joe and Dave Collins also owned and operated Rocker’s Music store in Concordia.&nbsp;Joe loved being outdoors, he was avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, watching all sports and he was a KC Royals, and KC Chiefs fan, and loved attending his kid’s activities.&nbsp;He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Sons of American Legion Post #27 Clifton, VFW Aux. Sister Lucy Schneider died November 10, 2019 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;She was 92 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 70 years. She was born in rural Salina, KS, on January 15, 1927, to John and Lucy Seramur Schneider, the youngest of six children, and was baptized Agnes Adele. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS on September 8, 1948.&nbsp;On March 19, 1949, Agnes received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Lucy. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1950 and final vows on March 19, 1953.In 1948 Sister Lucy received a B.A. in English; from Marymount College, Salina. In 1956 she received a M.A. in English from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. She then received a Ph.D. in English from Notre Dame University in 1967. She taught in institutions staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Grand Island, NE; Concordia, Manhattan and Salina, KS. She also taught on the Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. In 1991 Sister Lucy retired from teaching and served the community in various positions at the Motherhouse. Music played a vital role in Sister Lucy's life as she wrote many song parodies for special occasions.Sister Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.&nbsp;One sister, Mary Elizabeth Ryan, survives. A Bible Vigil Service will be held November 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel of the Nazareth Motherhouse with Sister Betty Suther as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be November 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Rev. Bob Schneider and Rev. Barry Brinkman presiding.
