Kirwin resident Helen E. Miller Cannon passed away Saturday, 
October 3, 2020, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the 
age of 97.

She was born June 18, 1923, in Sayre, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edgar V. and Merle Elizabeth (Addis) McCamon.

Survivors include her daughter Betty Still and husband Robert of 
rural Kirwin, KS; her son Ray Miller and wife Lorene of Claremore, OK; 5
 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a 
brother Bill McCamon and wife Joan of Amarillot, TX; and a sister Sue 
Weaver and husband Joe of Garden City, KS.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the
 Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Michael 
Ricci-Roberts officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 in 
the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, OK.&nbsp; Arrangements for graveside services 
will be by the Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, OK.

Mrs. Miller Cannon will lie in state Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.

Alice Faye VanMatre, 82 died October 4, 2020 in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; She was born on July 5, 1938 in Imperial, NE, the daughter of Rollin and Viola (Stuhr) Cahow.&nbsp; Alice was raised in the Imperial, NE community.&nbsp; She married Richard Real, they later divorced. Alice then married Clarence VanMatre in 1978.&nbsp; They made their home in Yuma, CO where Alice worked in a nursing home as a nurse’s aide.&nbsp; Clarence preceded her in death in 2005.&nbsp; Alice was a member of the Yuma Baptist Church.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading her bible and watching sports, especially football and baseball.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Real; sisters, Loraine "Babe" Barton, Bonnie Redfield and Marilyn Green; brothers, Robert Cahow and Rollin "Buddy" Cahow

Alice Faye VanMatre

Larry Dean Gillett,77, was born August 3, 1943 in Beloit, Kansas to Douglas and Marguerite (Thompson) Gillett and passed away September 30, 2020 at his twin sister, Sandra’s, home.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of Burr Oak High School. He attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelors of Science degree in meteorology and a minor in business.

He enlisted with the Air Force on Oct 15, 1965 and was released with honors on June 4, 1969 at the rank of Sergeant E4 after serving our country in Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam, Larry was the meteorologist. Larry was so dedicated to his weather works, he stayed behind at Da Nang when everyone else left the camp because of a potential threat. Larry felt responsible for the pilot’s safety as they were very dependent on his weather reports. The camp was attacked, and much to everyone’s surprise, when arriving back the following day, Larry was still alive, but the rest of the camp had been completely destroyed. His “fox hole” was the only thing intact with Larry safely inside.

Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Louise Gillett.

&nbsp; Charles Roger Lindblade, 90, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, October 3rd, peacefully, at McPherson Hospital. Roger was born on his parents farm, rural McPherson, Kansas on November 18, 1929, a son of Mable Matilda (Johnson) and Charles Arthur Lindblade. Roger attended North Union Country school through the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1947. He was a member of New Gottland Covenant Church McPherson, Kansas, where he served as usher for many years. Charles Roger Lindblade was united in marriage to Rosellen M. Straka on July 10, 1955 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and one daughter, Michael, Kenneth, and Judy. Rosellen died on May 24, 2020. He honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc. Roger was a Pipefitter at National Cooperative Refinery Association now known as CHS McPherson, Kansas for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, and the Kiwanis Club both of McPherson, Kansas. Roger enjoyed walking, playing golf, reading, working crossword puzzles, building model ships, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Roger is survived by his children, Michael Owen Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, Kenneth Dean Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, and Judy Ellen Moore and husband Steve, of Olathe, Kansas; his three grandchildren, Lindsey Moore, Abbie Geissler and husband Tyler and Grant Moore; one great-grandson, Noah Geissler; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. &nbsp; On Thursday, October 1, 2020, William B. (“Bill”) Anderson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 90. Bill was born on February 21, 1930, at Asbury Hospital in Salina, KS to Ross and Nettie Anderson. He passed away following a brief illness, surrounded by his family, in the same hospital. Bill graduated from Roxbury High School in 1948, attended McPherson College, and then was drafted into the army and served two years as an industrial arts teacher at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. With his father disabled by polio, he started farming at a very young age and continued working the family farm alongside his elder son and grandsons until a short time before his death. He also worked 37 years at the National Cooperative Refinery Association in McPherson, KS, before retiring. He met Juanita (Ade) Anderson at a movie in Roxbury, KS, and they were married on June 7, 1953, at the Roxbury United Methodist Church. During their 67 years of marriage, they raised two sons, William T. (“Tim”) Anderson of Roxbury, KS, and Dr. Terry Anderson of Kansas City, MO. He loved woodworking, metal working, and machinery repair. While soft-spoken, he was well known for a fast, wry wit, and an extraordinarily kind spirit. His great love was for his family. In addition to his wife and sons, he was blessed with two grandsons, Scott and Shawn, both of Roxbury, KS, whom he mentored as children and who repaid him with years of love, respect, and care. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Bobby, Don, and Daryl, and his sister, Betty Hutchins. Because of the challenges of the times, the immediate family will have a graveside memorial service. William B. (“Bill”) Anderson

Cheryl A. Warner, 56, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Great Bend, KS. She was born January 6, 1964 in Ellinwood, KS to Kenneth and Mary (Haley) Barta.

A longtime resident of Holyrood, Cheryl worked for nearly 30 years on the financial services team at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS. She married Weldon “Gene” Warner in Ellsworth in June of 1981.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Gene of Holyrood; mother, Mary Barta of Ellsworth; sister, Laura Barta of Holyrood; nephew, David Zajic of Holyrood; and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Barta; and son, Joshua Warner.

Visitation: 3-8 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

Friday, October 2, 2020, at the Northridge Retirement Community.&nbsp; CJ was born in Miltonvale, Kansas on October 10, 1931 to Charles and Eunice Sharp.&nbsp; On November 22, 1951 she married Elvis Edward (Ed) L. Shannon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She graduated from Miltonvale High school and attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and also Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; CJ supported her husband who farmed fulltime in Miltonvale, Kansas and raised five daughters.&nbsp; CJ loved the Lord; she loved her family and she loved people.&nbsp; She devoted her life to serving others and substituted taught a number of years in public schools in Miltonvale, KS and worked for Browns Clothing Store in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She attended FC Hill Memorial Church in Miltonvale and was a faithful servant of the Lord, where she taught CYC and Sunday School, preformed solos, and led congregational singing at her church.&nbsp; She loved children and wanted them to know Jesus.&nbsp;

In May, 2002 CJ and Ed retired and moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado where CJ richly enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and family nearby.&nbsp; She had a real zest for life, fun and games, shopping, and became an avid sports fan, especially fond of the Colorado Rockies, where she could name all the players. In February, 2017 CJ and Ed moved to Fishers, Indiana because of health needs and more simple living desires.&nbsp;

Bill's life began on May 10, 1960 in Pampa, Texas.  He was the son of Robert and Linda (Baggerman) Alkire. 

 Bill was a 1979 graduate of Ulysses High School. 

 He drove truck for oil field supply companies and worked as a laborer before he became disabled. 

 Bill loved to tinker with cars and rebuilt many engines in his spare time. 

He is survived by his mother Linda Alkire of Marion, siblings Sheila Thouvenell of Marion, Elizabeth Alkire of Marion, and Kenny Alkire of Stillwater OK, a daughter Brandy Birkett of Louisiana and grandson Immanuel and several nieces and nephews.  

Bill passed away on October 1, 2020 at Hillsboro Community Hospital.

William Dean Alkire

&nbsp; Christy May Druse, 50, born Aug. 18, 1970, passed Sept. 28, 2020. Christy was born on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation in Whiteriver, Ariz., to Henry and Bessey White. Her birth name was Merle Ann White. Christy was born with a host of medical issues and as a result was brought off the reservation and placed in the foster care of Thomas and Claudette Druse.

The Druse family immediately fell in love with her and as a result filed a petition to adopt her. It is a very rare instance for a family not belonging to the tribe to be able to adopt, however with the help of many professional people, the love of the Druse family and the Grace of God, we were blessed by the White family and the White Mountain Apache Tribe with the adoption. And so Merle Ann White became Christy May Druse.

Christy grew up as an Army brat long with her two older brothers Tom and Richard. They moved from Arizona to San Antonio, Texas. Upon Thomas's retirement from the Army in 1977, they moved to Enid, Okla. 

Christy attended school in Enid and Kremlin, Okla., graduating from Kremlin High School. She took a course at O.T. Autry Vo-Tech in culinary and worked in the foodservice industry ending up at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid campus cafeteria. 

Christy loved the outdoors and spent many days fishing with her family especially with her dad in their secret spots. 

Christy loved rock music especially the band Kiss and as a result, went to many concerts to include four Kiss concerts with her brother Tom. 

Christy enjoyed going to the casinos with her family and just overall enjoyed life even towards the end as the medical issues slowed her down. She enjoyed many trips to Arizona to visit her Apache family, most recently with her boyfriend and companion Greg Nusz. 

Christy is survived by her father Thomas Lee Druse of Enid; four brothers, Thomas Ray Druse, Richard Lee Druse, both of Enid, Paul White Israel and Bernard White, both of Whiteriver, Ariz; four sisters, Lucivia Colelay, Anabel Riley, Jeanette Cosay and Carol Hawkins, all of Whiteriver, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews and even more great nieces and nephews; boyfriend and companion, Greg Nusz.

She enjoyed her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death: Her parents, Sister Marjorie Emig, Brothers Keith and Alvin Beadleston. Caleb never met a stranger and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Minneapolis and loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. But his greatest love in life was his little girl. J.P. “Junior” Radke

M. Lenora Howe, 77, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 29, 2020. She was born October 17, 1942 to Charlie “Bud” and Viola (Adams) Dowlin in Beloit.

Lenora married Robert “Bob” Howe October 23, 1960 in Barnard.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband and brother, Leo Dowlin.

Survivors are her children, Noralea (Steven) Clark, Olsburg and David Howe, Jupiter, Florida; sister-in-law Janet Dowlin, Barnard; grandchildren, Hattie (Cody) Odette, Ethan (Raquell) Clark, Dawson Howe, and Addison Howe; great-grandchildren, Brantley Odette, Willow Clark, and two on the way in January.

This sweet, generous soul grew up on a farm north of Barnard in a limestone rock house originally built as a hotel to accommodate railroad passengers.&nbsp; Lenora attended Third Creek Grade School and Barnard High School - graduating with the class of 1960.&nbsp; She participated in drama, glee club and band. Lenora was a member of First Baptist Church, Barnard.&nbsp; She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, bible school, youth group. She was also was involved in ABW, choir and social committee helping plan and serve funeral lunches.

Lenora planned to attend beauty school after graduation, but a better plan came after meeting and falling in love with Bob while her family operated gas station at Coursen Grove.&nbsp; She was active in Salt Creek 4-H growing up and later served diligently when her children were members.&nbsp; Lenora was a beautiful seamstress, making her own wedding dress, her daughter’s, and her granddaughter’s.&nbsp; Her and her mom Viola operated Dowlin Upholstery Shop for many years recovering and refinishing furniture. “Norie” always had a love of people, a sweet soul who truly loved socializing.&nbsp; She was a faithful servant to so many friends and neighbors who were in need.&nbsp;&nbsp; She took great pride in serving on Salt Creek Township, Milo Cemetery, Lincoln County Area Agency on Aging and Hospice Board.

Lenora was a wonderful cook, thoroughly loved baking and cooking.&nbsp; After taking only one class in cake decorating, she began making beautifully decorated cakes.&nbsp; The homemade donuts were melt in your mouth delicious.&nbsp; She served as cook at Rita’s Café, Barnard Grade School, Barnard Lion’s Club and worked at Betty’s Place.&nbsp; Lenora worked at Barnard Post Office as well as the Ada Post Office, treasured greeting customers while completing her tasks. She was a dedicated help mate to Bob when they farmed and raised livestock together.

Her family was so dear to her, always looking for any chance to meet somewhere.&nbsp; She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and neighbor who sacrificed her own well being many times for anyone in need of a listening ear or help.&nbsp; Her and Bob were part of a bowling league in Minneapolis.&nbsp; Bob and she took many trips to see trains, ride trains and travel to many social events. Lenora’s life was filled with a series of “interesting” events she enjoyed telling us about, look back later and laugh about together.&nbsp; She loved her extended family with all her heart.&nbsp; Offering herself as a caregiver to widows or those who had no one.&nbsp; Her life was an example of self-denial, making the most of each day and seldom said no to any request.&nbsp; She was a shining example of generosity, hospitality and courage through the many trials in her life, saying: “There’s always something to be thankful for.”&nbsp; If you went for a visit to her home, you were welcomed in and sent home with a delicious treat.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 5 at Milo Cemetery, Barnard.&nbsp; Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, no family present. She was born October 17, 1942 to Charlie “Bud” and Viola (Adams) Dowlin in Beloit.Lenora married Robert “Bob” Howe October 23, 1960 in Barnard.She was preceded in death by parents, husband and brother, Leo Dowlin.Survivors are her children, Noralea (Steven) Clark, Olsburg and David Howe, Jupiter, Florida; sister-in-law Janet Dowlin, Barnard; grandchildren, Hattie (Cody) Odette, Ethan (Raquell) Clark, Dawson Howe, and Addison Howe; great-grandchildren, Brantley Odette, Willow Clark, and two on the way in January.This sweet, generous soul grew up on a farm north of Barnard in a limestone rock house originally built as a hotel to accommodate railroad passengers.&nbsp; Lenora attended Third Creek Grade School and Barnard High School - graduating with the class of 1960.&nbsp; She participated in drama, glee club and band. Gayla V. Green, 93, of McPherson, KS, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, surrounded by family at her home.

Gayla was born on December 6, 1926, in Agra, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charlie N. and Beulah (Rush) Thompson. She graduated from Tryon High School, Oklahoma, and Central College and McPherson College, both of McPherson, Kansas. On January 21, 1949, Gayla married Bob R. Green in Ames, Oklahoma.

Gayla had worked as an administrative assistant for Hesston Corp. and as an assistant librarian for McPherson College. She was a member of McPherson Free Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and helped with funeral dinners. She was a member of the Happy Handful Club. She played in the co-ed volleyball league at the McPherson YMCA.

Survivors include: her husband of 71 years, Bob; two children, Lucia Delamarter (Greg) of Greenville, IL and Mick Green (Linda) of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Her parents and two brothers, James Thompson and Don Thompson, preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Rev. Lucia Delamarter, Rev. Mick Green, and Rev. Linda Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery. The family requires face coverings/masks for those attending the visitation and service.

Bob L. Oltmanns, 84, of Moundridge, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2020, at Pine Village, Moundridge. He was retired from Moridge Manufacturing, Inc. where he was a grain dryer assembler and final tester for Grasshopper lawn mowers.

He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.

Bob was born on November 9, 1935, in Moundridge, KS, the son of John Henry and Daisey E. (Wylie) Oltmanns. He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1953. On December 31, 1971, Bob was united in marriage to Ruth E. (McClaflin) Allenbach at the First Baptist Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Ruth of the home; four step-children, Michael Allenbach (Cindy) of Inman, KS, Keith Allenbach (Shelly) of Moundridge, KS, Brenda Allenbach of Moundridge, KS, and Chrystle Swanson (Jim Gehring) of Edmond, OK; two siblings, John Oltmanns (Pat) of Wichita, KS and Ann Storer of Moundridge, KS; brother-in-law, Bill Silverstrand of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces &amp; nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jean Silverstand, brother-in-law, Jim Storer; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge.

Donald M. Wakefield, age 76, died Wed., September 30, 2020 at his home in Concordia, KS.&nbsp; He was born on Nov. 8, 1943 in Battle Creek, MI to Milo E. &amp; Emma J. (McWatters) Wakefield.

He graduated high school in Alpena, MI and received an Associate’s degree from Tulsa Junior College and Ft. Scott Community College.&nbsp; He married Janice R. Oberley on July 25, 1964 in Walker. MN.&nbsp; He began working for Western Union Telegraph and then worked as a wastewater supervisor, retiring from the City of Neodesha.&nbsp; He later served as pastor for the Jewell Assembly of God Church, Jewell, KS. &nbsp;&nbsp;Don and Janice have lived in a host of places during their marriage in Connecticut, Michigan, Oklahoma and Kansas.&nbsp; Don was a member of Victory Faith Church, serving as the Treasurer and a Board member.&nbsp; He also served as Treasurer for the Concordia Ministerial Assoc. for 4 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed model railroads, scale trains and played the trombone.

He is survived by his wife Janice, Concordia; sons, David, Sand Springs, OK, Daniel (Annette), Pine Bluff, AR &amp; Donald, II (Kathy), Sand Springs, OK ; daughters, Jeannine Matthews, Stillwater, OK, Janette Shipley (Cory), Springfield, MO &amp;&nbsp; Juline Wakefield, Concordia; sister, Bonnie Pratt (Eugene), Rockford, MI; brother, Roland Wakefield (Lita), Ocala, FL;&nbsp; brothers in law, Eugene Oberley (Elaine), Bloomfield, MN &amp; William Menerey, National City, MI; 16 grandchildren &amp; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way.

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Sankey of Belleville, KS, age 82, died September 30, 2020 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS. She was born on September 10, 1938 to Norbert and Margaret Habiger in Concordia, KS. She was raised in Republic, Kansas and graduated from Republic High School in 1956. Beth continued her education at Ft. Hays State University and completed her Bachelor of Science in Education from Kansas University in 1960.

She married Don LeRoy Sankey on August 20, 1960 and taught in the Munden School District for one year. Soon after, the couple moved to Republic, where Don opened his own repair shop, and welcomed the arrival of Ronald, born on June 18, 1961. When Ron was in first grade, Beth went back to work teaching in the Republic Schools, and taught kindergarten for one year and then transferred to high school English. She directed many plays during her teaching career in Republic and enjoyed her students greatly.

Republic was home for the Sankey’s for many years. Both Beth's parents, Norb and Margaret, Don's parents, John and Edna Sankey, and brother and sister-in-law Norman and Helen Sankey were within shouting distance.&nbsp; Not to mention, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless, dear friends. The couple loved to entertain.&nbsp;

In 1970 the couple purchased the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealership in Belleville, called Sankey Motors. She continued teaching and also kept books for the dealership for several years and they moved to Belleville in 1993. Her favorite pastime was reading, but coming close were knitting, cross-stitching, sewing and crafting.&nbsp; Her Bridge Club, known as the "Mothers' Night Out" group, enjoyed years of entertainment at their husbands' expense.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Jim Habiger.

Survivors include son, Ron and wife Lori of Garden City, granddaughter, Jade Sankey of Jacksonville, FL, and grandson and wife, Jon and Nikki Sankey and great-granddaughter Millie Sankey of Panama City Beach, FL, two sister-in-laws Joan Sankey Free of Cleveland, OK, and Jeanette Habiger of Shell Knob, MO, in addition to four nieces and one nephew.

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Sankey



Robert Leon (Bob) Hill, 93, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:20 a.m., Wednesday, September 30th, 2020, while in the company of family members at McPherson Hospital .

Bob was born in McPherson, Kansas on September 13, 1927, a son of Harry Bryan and Verbie Blanche (Whitney) Hill.

Bob attended the Grasshopper Country School, rural Galva, Kansas, and graduated from Galva High School in 1945. He then attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd class in WW II and as a Bmg 3 in the Korean War.

Bob started as patrol officer for the McPherson Police Department and through 21 and a half years retired as the Assistant Chief of Police. Bob worked for Winfield Bus Company as Bus Driver for 8 years prior to working for Precision Chrome of McPherson as a Truck Driver for 16 and 1/2 years. Bob then worked for Trinity Lutheran Church as Custodian for 3 1/2 years.

Bob was a member of McPherson Lions Club; American Legion Post 24; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715; and the Disabled American Veterans. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, football, basketball and all sports. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, going to auctions, baking and cooking. Bob served in the United States Navy during W. W. II and was stationed aboard the Battle Ship Alabama. In 1946 he was released from regular Navy to go to Reserve. In 1951 Bob was called back into regular Navy where he was stationed on the ship U.S. Delta. He served in the Korean War at this time. The ship was in the Japan and Korean area for 10 months and was released from the Navy in 1954 with his honorable discharge.

Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Shafer on May 20, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She died on March 31, 2002. Bob was united in marriage to Goldie Marie Hamann Arnold on June 4, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in McPherson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Goldie M. Hill, of McPherson, Kansas; his children Craig Hill and his wife Linda, of Wichita, Kansas, David Hill and his wife Penni, of McPherson, Kansas, Debra L. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 25 Step grandchildren; 29 step great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Shirley; his brother, Clinton and Billie Hill; his granddaughter Katy Hill; his step-granddaughter Elaine Marie Arnold and a step-great-granddaughter Danielle Albrecht.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Tim Leaf officiating and will be broadcasted live on Trinity Lutheran Church Facebook page.

Robert Leon (Bob) Hill, 93, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:20 a.m., Wednesday, September 30th, 2020, while in the company of family members at McPherson Hospital .Bob was born in McPherson, Kansas on September 13, 1927, a son of Harry Bryan and Verbie Blanche (Whitney) Hill.Bob attended the Grasshopper Country School, rural Galva, Kansas, and graduated from Galva High School in 1945. He then attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas.He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson.He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd class in WW II and as a Bmg 3 in the Korean War.Bob started as patrol officer for the McPherson Police Department and through 21 and a half years retired as the Assistant Chief of Police. Bob worked for Winfield Bus Company as Bus Driver for 8 years prior to working for Precision Chrome of McPherson as a Truck Driver for 16 and 1/2 years. Bob then worked for Trinity Lutheran Church as Custodian for 3 1/2 years.Bob was a member of McPherson Lions Club; American Legion Post 24; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715; and the Disabled American Veterans. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, football, basketball and all sports. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, going to auctions, baking and cooking. Bob served in the United States Navy during W. W. II and was stationed aboard the Battle Ship Alabama. In 1946 he was released from regular Navy to go to Reserve. In 1951 Bob was called back into regular Navy where he was stationed on the ship U.S. Delta. He served in the Korean War at this time. The ship was in the Japan and Korean area for 10 months and was released from the Navy in 1954 with his honorable discharge.Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Shafer on May 20, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She died on March 31, 2002. Bob was united in marriage to Goldie Marie Hamann Arnold on June 4, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in McPherson.He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Goldie M. Hill, of McPherson, Kansas; his children Craig Hill and his wife Linda, of Wichita, Kansas, David Hill and his wife Penni, of McPherson, Kansas, Debra L. David E. Demars, age 73, left this earthly life on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia.&nbsp; He was born on March 7, 1947 in Concordia, KS to Merle L. &amp; Adele E. (Rheault) Demars.

Dave graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School, Concordia in 1965.&nbsp; He proudly served his country in the US Navy for 4 years.&nbsp; He married Vicki L. Nelson on Feb. 3, 1973 in Jamestown, KS.&nbsp; Dave worked for the Cloud County Co-Op for 34 years as a scale operator and elevator supervisor.&nbsp; He also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.&nbsp; Additionally, Dave was a funeral assistant for Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home for over 20 years, especially after his retirement from the Co-op.&nbsp; Dave was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a life member of the American Legion Post #76 &amp; VFW Post #588.

Robyn Lynn (Dickson) Schneider, age 47, died on Monday, September 28, 2020 in Minneapolis, Kansas from allergy-induced asthma attack. Robyn was born on September 19, 1973 in Salina, Kansas to Linda and Ollie "Dick" Dickson.

Robyn loved life and was always keeping busy helping others. She enjoyed her main job as a Licensed Practical Nurse, moonlighting as a worker at Jim's Chicken, and driving her pharmaceutical route in North Central Kansas. Most of all Robyn loved her family and friends and went out of her way to be there for them in every way she could.

She married her husband Len on August 27, 2013. Together they found joy in camping, boating, riding motorcycles and spending time with family.

She is survived by her mother and father, husband, Leonard R Schneider Jr., sister Rhonda (Allen) Burr, son Alex Karcher, daughter Kaylee Karcher, step-daughter Myranda (Mariah) Barnett, step-son Leonard (Molly) Schneider, and three grandchildren Ava, Thatcher, and Dax. She was preceded in death by her cousins Brian Christiancy and Russell Dickson and her grandparents RD and Novelle Schweitzer and Ollie and Helen Dickson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 3 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street in Salina, with Ed Mathis officiating; burial to follow at Gypsum Hill. Visitation will be at Ryan Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 2, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Max Eugene "Gene" Fuller, 89, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Gene was born in Salina, Kansas, on January 22, 1931, to Perry and Corine Fuller.

He was part of Fuller's Used Parts and Recycling Center for over 70 years, first working for his father, then buying the business in 1975.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sue Fuller, sons Mark (Judy) Fuller of Kansas City, and Mike (Mechelle) Fuller of Salina, and daughter Joni (Byron) Seymour of Marshfield, Missouri. He had nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott Harmon, and a granddaughter.

Memorials can be made to Sunrise Presbyterian Church, The Salvation Army, Saline County Health Department, or Hospice of Salina and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Always impeccably dressed, it made perfect sense when she opened a women’s clothing store, The Fashionmaker, in 1969, which she operated until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abilene, Past President of Chapter GY, P.E.O., and Past Matron of Abilene Chapter #111 O.E.S.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stan, in 1999; her parents; and two sisters, Rev. Janet Sevier Gilbreath in 1988 and Marjorie DeSpain in 2005.

She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Paula Martin, and her husband, Kurt Falkenstien, of Lawrence; her daughter-in-law, Victoria Martin, of Longmont, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jack Martin (Sarah) of Seattle, Washington; Ty Martin (Jill) of Longmont, Colorado; Jessica Lindfors (Jordan) of Browns Summit, North Carolina; and Kate Martin Falkenstien (Rich Boltizar) of Boise, Idaho; as well as four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Abilene on Friday, October 2, 2020 with Pastor Jack Gilstrap officiating. Private burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. Merle G. Herring, 90, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 in Moundridge, KS. He was born March 15, 1930 in Osage County, OK to Hezekiah “Hez” J. Herring and Thelma “Erma” (Hutchison) Herring.

Merle was a longtime resident of Lucas, KS. He served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he married Violet Corwin in Russell, KS on December 3, 1952. He worked in the oil field, machine shop at Beech Aircraft, and school maintenance at Bennington and Lucas-Luray schools. Merle enjoyed having bluegrass and country music jams with friends. He played fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He was a nature enthusiast who enjoyed animals, being outdoors, and sitting under a shade tree on hot summer days.

Merle is survived by his wife, Violet Herring of Moundridge; sons, Robert Herring (Julie) of Fort Worth, TX and Lyle Herring (Donna) of Bennington, KS; daughter, Linda Herring of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and sisters, Wanda Cearly of Ball, LA and Sharon Hicks of Jay, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Wayne Herring; daughter, Lethea Nelson; and grandson, Rusty Walker.
