Delmar Yarrow, 97, died February 20, 2021 in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; He was born on December 3, 1923 in Clay Center, the son of Frederick and Margaret (McClurkin) Yarrow.&nbsp; 

Delmar was raised in Clay County.&nbsp; He served in the US Army during WWII seeing action in the Philippines.&nbsp; Following the war, Delmar returned to Clay center, met, and married Marlee Affolter on October 10, 1948.&nbsp; They farmed in Clay County and Delmar milked Holsteins from 1951 to 1971.&nbsp; Marlee preceded him in death on March 17, 2003.&nbsp; Delmar married Sharon (Wallis) Klassen on November 1, 2008.&nbsp; He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gideons International, USD 379 School Board and the Clay Center American Legion.&nbsp; Delmar help build over 50 churches on mission trips to Central America.&nbsp; He was also preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Luke Yarrow.

Carlene Rae Taylor, 77, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Village Manor in Abilene. She was born August 20, 1943 in Clay Center, the daughter of Vivian Gebhardt and Wilma Jean Gates. Carlene worked as an antique dealer in the Abilene area. 

Carlene is survived by her daughter, Kristine Kiser of Abilene. Grandson, Aaron Barrett of Lawrence, Kansas, daughter-in-law, Valorie Kiser of Medford, Oklahoma, step-grandsons, Dexter, Dustin and Clay of Medford, Oklahoma and brother-in-law, David Brubaker of Hutchinson, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Taylor, son, Ken Kiser, parents and sisters, Jolene Householder and Goldie Ann Brubaker. 

The family has chosen cremation. No services are planned at this time. A private family burial will take place at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Abilene Animal Hospital to go towards adoption programs.

Papillion, NE -&nbsp;Anita Kay Scott, daughter of Carl E. Broils and Neoma (Naomi) Kibble-Broils, was born on November 27, 1939 and transitioned on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Papillion Manor (Papillion, Nebraska) surrounded by her family.

She was born in Council Grove, Kansas and lived in Russell, Kansas with her parents until they moved to Salina, Kansas in March of 1942. She attended Salina Public Schools and was a student at the Marymount College in Salina, Kansas. Affectionately known by and called Neda Kay, she loved music and to sing. She was wed on December 27, 1958 to Alexander E. Scott. They had no children.

Neda Kay was a life-long member of the Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Salina, Kansas. Her profound sense of love for God and the Church was clearly manifested in the way she committed her life in Christian service. She served tirelessly, in many Official capacities, until she was physically unable to. Over the years she assisted the Pastors, was the Church Secretary, Treasurer, Women’s Missionary Society President, and Choir Director. She represented Allen Chapel through a multitudes of Annual Conferences and varying other connectional ministries as the Delegate for Allen Chapel. While residing at the Papillion Manor she continued to attend Chapel Services and to share her love of singing.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves to mourn her two sisters; Arlene Broils-Glenn (George) of Topeka, Kansas; Irma Broils-Martin (Johnnie) of Papillion, Nebraska; her Sister-in-law Ethel Scott of Spring Grove, VA.; Brother-in-law Carroll Scott of Spring Grove, VA; two nieces, four great nieces, two great-great nieces, four nephews, six great nephews; six great-great nephews; and a host of family and friends.

There will be a private service held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 with burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove, KS. Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary from 4 until 8 pm Monday evening where the family will receive callers from 5 until 7 pm that evening.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in WWII.&nbsp; He and Rosanne Walters were married August 12, 1962 in Junction City.&nbsp; He earned a master’s degree from Kansas State University and he taught Industrial Engineering there for 6.5 years.&nbsp; Corliss also taught for a short time and the Beloit Vo Tech.&nbsp; He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the Delphos Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.

Survivors are his wife, Rosanne; son, Craig; and daughter, Cynthia (Terry) Beall.

Mettlen, daughter of Levi Raymond and Ruth Esther (Corsaut) Sprinkle, was born August 18, 1918 in Salina, Kansas. Ruth attended school in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1936. She graduated from Hutchinson (Community) Junior College in 1938. On Christmas Day, December 25, 1938, she married Richard L. Mettlen, her high school sweetheart. They were married 76 years. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member and past president of Chapter EU, P.E.O., member of Eastern Star, member of McPherson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and member of American Legion Auxiliary. She served as a director on the Home State Bank &amp; Trust Board for 12 years. Ruth was the creator and designer of gorgeous floral arrangements, which she signed by attaching a “Ruth Original” tag to each unique piece. Ruth was very competitive and she played golf for 45 years, participating in tournaments and Ladies’ Golf Association activities. She scored three holes-in-one during her golfing career. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and siblings Helen Fuller, Charles Sprinkle, and Carolyn Gordon. ELLSWORTH - Gilbert J. Smischny, 65, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 in Ellsworth. He was born June 30, 1955 in Ellsworth, KS to Gilbert G. and Elizabeth (Schultz) Smischny.

Gilbert retired from the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ellsworth. Gilbert was one of the first welders in the Ellsworth High School FFA and continued that passion as a welder in the Navy. He loved being on the farm in Ellsworth County, was proud of his Navy service, and was a proud Democrat who loved political discussion.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Sarah Crampton of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth with inurnment following in Ellsworth Cemetery.

Brandon’s life began on July 21, 1987, the son of Scott Alan and Katherine Ann (Egger) McCoy in El Dorado, Kansas. He graduated from Mineola, Texas High School, Class of 2005. He attended the University of Texas in Tyler, Texas. He worked in commercial refrigeration for Kroger’s in Texas. Recently he moved to Whitewater to be near family. He attended the Federated Church in Whitewater. He enjoyed driving around the countryside seeing all of the wide-open spaces in Kansas. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and target practice.

His loving family includes his parents, Scott and Katherine McCoy of Whitewater; sister and her husband, Amber and Kris Quintana of Mineola, Texas; paternal grandmother, Virginia McCoy of Whitewater; maternal grandfather, Ernie Egger of Garnett, Kansas; maternal grandmother, Frances Lee Egger of Augusta, Kansas; seven nieces and nephews, Aspen, Bella, Shelby, Maddy, Abel, Jericho and River. And his beloved chihuahua Boo, who he was never without.

Brandon was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and cousin. He passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the age of 33 years old. He was preceded in death by his sister, Heather McCoy in 2007 and his paternal grandfather, Robert “Bob” McCoy.

The family will gather with friends on Sunday, February 21, from 2-3:30 p.m. at Federated Church, 207 E. Central,&nbsp;Whitewater. James R. LaBarge, age 86, entered into rest on Friday, February 19th, 2021 at Mount Joseph Senior Village.&nbsp; He was born January 10, 1935 in Clyde, Kansas to Homer and Aldea (Hamel) LaBarge.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School in Concordia.

On August 6, 1956, he married Marlys Jean Brunell at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Aurora, Kansas.&nbsp; Jim and Marlys recently celebrated 64 years of marriage this past August.

Jim was a lifetime Farmer, Rancher, and Truck Driver.

He enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, and visiting with people, he never met a stranger.

Jim was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Club, and Elks Club all of Concordia, and past member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Aurora.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marlys, Concordia, KS ,2 sons, Mark LaBarge (Anita), Aurora, KS; Galen LaBarge (Mary),Concordia, KS; 2 Daughters, Janet Chaplin (Glen), Manhattan, KS; Jeanie Montana, Peoria, AZ; Brother Patrick LaBarge, Aurora, KS; 9 Grandchildren, Michelle, Nathan, Sarah, Whitney, Ryan, Megan, Christian, Nick, and Lauren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Aldea, Daughter, Julie Funk, Sisters, Mary R. Marcotte and Maxine C. Gray, and Brother, Ronal LaBarge.

Formerly of Salina, Kansas, Born December 26, 1936 to Alvin &amp; Doris Lebert. Bill attended Brookville High School later attended Brown Mackey College of Business in Salina where shortly after he started his long career in financial banking. September 1958 he married Kay Helen Armstrong together they had two children, Susan and Rodney.

In 2001 a large storm destroyed their home in Hoisington, KS, and then the couple relocated to Esterbrook,WY. where they stayed until health problems forced them off the mountain. 

Bill is survived by his son Rodney (Lori) Lebert of Douglas, WY and Susan (Larry) Aiken of Lawrence, KS, one sister Elizabeth (Jim) Cole of Salina, KS. Three Grandchildren, Cody &amp; Ryan Lebert and Jacob Aiken, several nieces &amp; nephews and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Kay.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 with a funeral service held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20th, all at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. &nbsp;

She was born October 9, 1956, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of the late Richard Fromdahl and the late Patricia Fromdahl. Shelly was a 46 year resident of Salina, KS and was united in marriage to the love of her life, her turtle dove, Gregory Hindman on October 23, 1976.

She was a devoted mother, best friend, and loyal wife. Shelly was truly a fighter throughout all her health battles during the last 27 years. She will be remembered for her love of her family, immediate and extended alike, her love of the sun and water, and being surrounded by laughter, games, and joy.

Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Patricia, her sister, Teresa Walker, her stepmother, Sylvia Fromdahl, and her in-laws, Robert and Carlene Hindman.

Anita worked as a nursing aide for many years at Kenwood View and Windsor Estates and also at Grandma Max’s. She enjoyed watching old western shows on TV, eating out at IHOP and going to church to give hugs and smiles to everyone.

Not having any children of her own, she devoted herself to the children in the Children’s Ministry at Grace Baptist, teaching them to love the Lord with all of their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bessie Shelby and brothers, Bill Griffith, Fred Shelby and Lee Griffith.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Robert J. Young, of Salina; sisters Charlotte Leighton of Salina and Betty Hartzell of San Antonio, TX; brother James Shelby of Salina and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2021 at Grace Baptist with Pastor Matt Parnell officiating. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Tom served in World War II with the 172nd&nbsp;Army Unit. He was in the Pacific Theater at New Guinea and Luzon as a light machine gunner. Tom was awarded 3 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He worked for Graves Trucking as a driver for 20 years.

Tom enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife Frankee. He also enjoyed working word searches and going to casinos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank B. and Laura Bell (Mason) Huiett; wife of 70 years, Frankee; 3 sisters; 5 brothers.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and friends.

Tom 'Tommy' Pickett, Jr., 65 of Kanopolis, Kan., passed away Feb. 18, 2021, after losing his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born July 3, 1955 at Asbury Hospital in Salina, Kan. to Thomas Pickett Sr. and Beatrice (Turner) Pickett. He married Linda (Cranston) Pickett July 19, 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Ellsworth, Kan.

Tom drove for White’s Construction since high school. He was employed with White’s until he was not able to drive anymore.&nbsp; Some knew him as ‘White Lighting.’

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Betty; his older sister, Stephanie (Pickett) Andreason; and his baby sister, Geraldine (Pickett) Maddox.

He was a proud father of three beloved daughters, Tammy Pickett of Salina, Kan., Amy Pickett (Pat Hubnik) of Salina, Kan., and Kristy Pickett-Foster (Nathan Foster) of Salina, Kan. He is also survived by his wife, Linda;&nbsp; five grandchildren, Trenton, Kiley, Kelsi, Jacob, and Katelyn; and sister Ola Nulik (Steve Nulik), Burden, Kan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Stasha Leora Loring Spitler was born October 15, 1919, the only child of Ed and Daisy Ann (Fuller) Loring on a farm south of Scandia, Kansas. On January 30, 2021, she went peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father at the age of 101. She attended Dist. 88 grade school and graduated from Scandia High school with the Class of 1937. While growing up, she enjoyed life on the farm and spending much time with many cousins, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Leora’s faith was very important to her and that beacon of God’s love was evident to everyone she encountered. She enjoyed attending the Scandia Methodist Church while growing up and teaching Sunday school classes.

She married Eugene H. Spitler on January 18, 1939 at the Methodist Parsonage in Courtland, Kansas. They made their home on the Spitler farm north and west of Courtland until 1958 when they moved into town, at which time Gene became employed with the Kansas Bostwick Irrigation District. To this union, one daughter was born, Anita.

Leora worked for a short time at Blackburn’s Produce and then in 1960, she became employed with the Courtland Public schools as the school secretary. She worked there until her retirement in 1985. Working for the school district was one of Leora’s greatest pleasures in life as she loved interacting with the students and staff. She was known to “spoil” the teaching staff by going over and beyond helping them with their paperwork. And the students could always find a jar of candy on the countertop in the office at Christmas time, just for their enjoyment.

Not one to be idle very long, Leora soon found part time work after her retirement, working for Hurtig’s Veterinary Clinic and Tebow Plumbing and volunteering at the library. Once again, she found much joy in working with the public.

Her part time employers were very good about allowing her some flexibility to do some traveling, so she and Gene were fortunate to be able to go on some really nice trips. They enjoyed many day trips and mystery trips and several extended trips which were taken with some local friends. For their 40th wedding anniversary, they and four other couples went to Hawaii. Another trip that was a huge delight was a trip through the southwestern states, culminating in Los Angeles for the Rose parade. For their 60th anniversary, they were treated to a trip to Virginia by their daughter and son-in-law. Gene had a great time introducing Bill to his Virginia relatives and sharing stories about the area that was his heritage.

&nbsp;Throughout her lifetime, Leora was very active in her community. She could always be counted upon to help in any capacity where needed. She was baptized in the Courtland Methodist Church and became very active and involved in church activities. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Homemakers Club, and the Courtland Crusaders.

Several of Leora’s cousins lived into their 90s and so for nearly 20 years, there was a cousin coffee held monthly in Scandia for all those that could attend. She and Gene loved seeing all the cousins regularly and being able to reminisce and stay connected.

In 2008, Leora and Gene decided to move to Beloit to be near their daughter and son-in-law. They moved to Hilltop Assisted Living and began to enjoy a new chapter in their life. While there, they were fortunate to be able to celebrate 74 years together. Leora quickly became a “favorite” of the staff there and she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting acquainted with many new people while she was there. She made many new friends in the Beloit area.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Walsh and husband Bill of Beloit; step grandchildren, Mary Landen, Denver, CO, Kathy Walsh, Phoenix, AZ and Michael Walsh, Wichita, KS; five step-great grandchildren; nephews, Howard Spitler, Kannapolis, KS and Ron Spitler, Scottsdale, AZ; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene in 2013 and a brother-in-law Ray Spitler in 1987.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the United Methodist Church, Courtland, Kansas with The Reverend Sandra Jellison-Knock officiating. Burial was in the Courtland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pike Valley Foundation or the Methodist Church. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home assisted the Spitler family with these arrangements.

Leroy Henry Strotkamp was born on January 26, 1931, at home on the land homesteaded by his great grandparents in 1880. He was the third child of Joseph Henry and Sarah Eva (Olsen) Strotkamp. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, Kansas.

He lived his entire life in Marion County, Kansas – living in the Burns-Summit area before the family moved to Peabody in the mid 1930’s. He attended school in Peabody and Burns. Even though he lived in Marion the last six years of his life, Peabody was always home. Throughout his entire life he enjoyed tinkering around with different projects and had a love for dogs.

At the age of 16, he went to work for Tucker Produce in Peabody, driving the country route picking up eggs and cream from the farmers. He later worked various jobs including Beech Aircraft in Wichita and driving a semi hauling cattle. In 1959, he went to work for the post office in Peabody carrying mail for the entire town every day. People said you could almost set your clock by when the mail arrived when he was delivering it. After 31 years with the postal service, he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed helping out at the Dari Crème with his sister Mary and brother-in-law “Doc” Stovall. He always enjoyed visiting with people.

On July 15, 1963, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Engel in Marion. They enjoyed 51 years together until her passing on July 23, 2014.

Leroy was baptized into our Lord Jesus Christ on August 30, 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Eva Strotkamp; his wife, Betty; his older brother, Joseph Henry Jr. who died in infancy; his sister, Mary Stovall and brother-in-law, Melvin “Doc” Stovall.

He will be missed by several nieces and nephews, Joan Stovall of Newton, Kansas, Don and Brenda Stovall of Halstead, Kansas, Greg and Kim Topham of Peabody, Phil and Gail Topham of Burns, Jeff Topham of Griswold, Iowa, David and Shelley Topham of Valley Center, Kansas, and Amy and Lee Engle of Kingman, Kansas, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Viewing without the family present will be Thursday and Friday, February 18 &amp; 19, from 9-5 at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, 205 Elm in Marion. Funeral service Saturday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Peabody Christian Church, 301 N. Sycamore in Peabody, with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Throughout his entire life he enjoyed tinkering around with different projects and had a love for dogs.At the age of 16, he went to work for Tucker Produce in Peabody, driving the country route picking up eggs and cream from the farmers. He later worked various jobs including Beech Aircraft in Wichita and driving a semi hauling cattle. In 1959, he went to work for the post office in Peabody carrying mail for the entire town every day. People said you could almost set your clock by when the mail arrived when he was delivering it. After 31 years with the postal service, he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed helping out at the Dari Crème with his sister Mary and brother-in-law “Doc” Stovall. He always enjoyed visiting with people.On July 15, 1963, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Engel in Marion. They enjoyed 51 years together until her passing on July 23, 2014.Leroy was baptized into our Lord Jesus Christ on August 30, 1999.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Eva Strotkamp; his wife, Betty; his older brother, Joseph Henry Jr. who died in infancy; his sister, Mary Stovall and brother-in-law, Melvin “Doc” Stovall.He will be missed by several nieces and nephews, Joan Stovall of Newton, Kansas, Don and Brenda Stovall of Halstead, Kansas, Greg and Kim Topham of Peabody, Phil and Gail Topham of Burns, Jeff Topham of Griswold, Iowa, David and Shelley Topham of Valley Center, Kansas, and Amy and Lee Engle of Kingman, Kansas, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.Viewing without the family present will be Thursday and Friday, February 18 &amp; 19, from 9-5 at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, 205 Elm in Marion. Funeral service Saturday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Peabody Christian Church, 301 N. Sycamore in Peabody, with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating. Evelyn's life began on July 29, 1934 in Marion, KS.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Clyde Fredrick "Fritz" and Henrietta "Hank" (Conyers) Richmond.&nbsp; Evelyn was a member of the Marion High School Class of 1952.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" H. Bredemeier on March 15, 1952.&nbsp; Evelyn helped her husband Dick, with the Phillip 66 service stations he managed as his bookkeeper then went to work for 25 years at the Sterling (later Pfizer) Pharmaceutical packaging plant in McPherson before retiring.&nbsp; 

Dick and Evelyn loved to camp and were members of the "Marionettes" camping group at various lakes in the region at least once a month.&nbsp; They enjoyed camping with their good friends in South Central Colorado.&nbsp; Evelyn enjoyed backyard barbeques with relatives, cooking, gardening, and in the early years of their marriage, she repaired and refinished antique furniture to furnish their home.&nbsp; She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary Shoppe and Eastmoor United Methodist Church, especially preparing lunches in the kitchen.&nbsp; Evelyn was close to all her cousins, siblings, in-laws, and their children.&nbsp; She moved to the Marion Assisted Living and then to St. Luke's Living Center for the last 20 months of her life.&nbsp; 

Evelyn passed away on February 17, 2021 at St. Luke's Living Center.&nbsp; Her greatest joy was her family which includes three sons Mike (Lynne) Bredemeier of California, Don (Donna) Bredemeier of Marion and James Bredemeier of Wichita; grandchildren Jeff, Jon, Josh, Jenessa and Jake; seven great grandchildren; and her sister Laura Jane Bredemeier of Petaluma, CA.&nbsp; and brother James Richmond of Marion.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, infant son John, and brothers Ralph and Jack Richmond.&nbsp; 

The family will gather with friends on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at 1 p.m. in Marion Cemetery for a graveside service for both Evelyn and Dick led by Pastor Darren Frazier of the Eastmoor United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Yazel-Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.&nbsp;

 </figure><a href="https://www.ryanmortuary.com/obituary/Ruth-Holcom">Obituary for Ruth Ann (Eshelman) Holcom | Ryan Mortuary</a>January 26, 1942 ~ February 12, 2021 (age 79)SALINA - Ruth Ann Holcom, 79, passed from this life February 12, 2021, Ruth was the daughter of Melvin and Charlotte Eshelman, Salina.&nbsp; She leaves behind her special friend, Gary Ackerman of Salina; sons, Rusty Holcom and Aaron Holcom both of Lake Charles, LA; brothers, Ray Eshelman, Salina, Rex Eshelman, Las Vegas, NV; and sister, Rena Sterling, Stillwater, OK.Ruth is also survived by the loves of her life, granddaughters, Kurstin Holcom, Chicago, IL., Samantha Holcom, Chicago, Lauren Holcom, Lake Charles, LA. and Hannah Holcom, Lake Charles; great-grandchildren, Myla Holcom, Lake Charles, Hallie Holcom, Lake Charles, and Liam Basham, Chicago.&nbsp; Other survivors include her favorite uncle, Russell Swisher; cousins, nieces and nephews.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Charlotte Eshelman; baby sister, Karen Ruth Eshelman; baby brother, Roy Cleason Eshelman; and maternal and paternal grandparents.Ruth graduated from Salina High School, in 1960.&nbsp; She started her working career as a bookkeeper with the Kansas Department of Transportation located in Salina. She then worked for Randall Morgan Statues, as a painter and later with Dr. Richard Bergen.&nbsp; She worked as a helper and painter on Dr. Bergen’s artwork including his Pony Express Statue.&nbsp; Later Ruth returned to bookkeeping and worked for R and R Plumbing before moving to Lake Charles, LA. While at Lake Charles she worked at a Mansion as part of the Yard/Lawn/Swimming Pool Maintenance team. Ruth loved working outside.Ruth’s passion was singing and playing the piano. She was known by many as being the manager and upfront singer for the “Sundusters Band” from 1972 to 2000, when the band dissolved.&nbsp; The band played for many dances at the Moose Lodge and other establishments in and around Salina. The Sundusters played many years for the “Run to the Wall – Rolling Thunder” on their way to Washington DC and she gave the riders Teddy Bears to carry to the Vietnam Veterans Wall.&nbsp; Her signature song was “The Teddy Bear Song”. Many articles were written in various magazines and the Salina Journal about Ruth and her Teddy Bears being given to the veterans.
