 Rosalie "Rose" Kay Stimac-Schlesener
August 9, 1951 ~ April 26, 2024

Rose’s life began on August 9, 1951, in Kansas City, KS. She was the daughter of George A. and Rowena (Brillhart) M. Reising. Rose attended Catholic grade school in Kansas City, graduating from Bishop Ward in 1969, and graduated from St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in 1972.

She was united in marriage to John A. Stimac on August 10, 1974, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kansas City and he preceded her in death in 2019. Rose remarried Tom Schlesener on November 14, 2020, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington. Rose worked as a registered nurse at the Herington Hospital for several years; later she worked at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, where she really enjoyed being a labor and delivery nurse. She was a parishioner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. Rose had been a member of the St. John’s Altar Society, serving as president. She volunteered as a room mother when her children were in school and as a member of the Herington Hospital Auxiliary.

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Tom Schlesener of Herington; children Melissa (Nolan) Brunner of Lost Springs, Sarah ( Jared) Fenske of Hillsboro, and Joseph Stimac of Minneapolis, MN; step daughters Jennifer Scott of Buena Vista, CO and Elizabeth Schlesener of Herington; grandchildren Noah Brunner, Kolton Fenske, Wesley Fenske, Beau Fenske, Leah Brunner, Makenna Fenske, Connor Scott and Logan Scott; siblings Angela Bolt of Edwardsville, KS, Janet Springer of Kansas City, Teresa Sappenfield of Dover, MO, George Reising of Roeland Park, KS, Suzanne Engle of Kansas City, and Frank Reising of Kansas City and many nieces, and nephews.

Rose passed away on April 26, 2024, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Stimac, and granddaughter Brooke Fenske. Her family will gather with friends on Saturday May 11, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. for her Rosary service at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Abilene where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Peter O’Donnell. She will be laid to rest in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Herington. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.
