After a pair of Salina residents left their home in the 600 block of North Seventh Street late Wednesday evening, they returned to find their front door kicked in and multiple personal items stolen.

Salina Police Department (SPD) Capt. James Feldman said at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, a 45-year-old and a 19-year-old man reported the alleged burglary to SPD officers.

The burglary occurred between approximately 7:15 and eight o'clock. &nbsp;"Taken was a payroll check, a pair of shoes, an Apple iPhone 8, a black backpack and what they described as a lunchbox. Estimating loss at about $250," said Feldman.&nbsp;

Officers investigating the scene determined that the suspect allegedly attempted to break in through the back door but was unsuccessful. The suspect then entered the front door by kicking it.

Feldman said SPD officers continue investigating the crime but have no suspects determined at this time.

"They [the victims] did not list any idea who could have been responsible for the incident," Feldman said.

Early Monday morning, June 3, a joint operation between the local Drug Task Force and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) found more than three pounds of various types of drugs in a local residence.

According to Salina Police Department (SPD) Capt. James Feldman, at about 9 a.m., the Drug Task Force and KBI served a search warrant at a home in Central Salina and found evidence of several types of drugs.

"In reference to a joint investigation, located was approximately a pound of hallucinogenic mushrooms, over two pounds of miscellaneous marijuana products, over three grams of suspected methamphetamine and a large quantity of paraphernalia," Feldman said. "Arrested was Kristoff Lindgren, a 33-year-old male of Salina."

Officers arrested Lindgren and requested charges for the distribution of a hallucinogenic, distribution of marijuana, distribution of methamphetamines, a count of use of a communication facility and the commission of a felony drug crime, unlawful drug proceeds, felony paraphernalia and a paraphernalia misdemeanor.

"Some cash was found, but I don't have those numbers right now," Feldman said. "It was a long day."

Feldman said the Drug Task Force and KBI had worked on this investigation for some time. Officers jointly continue to investigate the crime.

Drug Task Force, KBI arrest Salina suspect and find multiple pounds of drugs

This Saturday, a familiar local band invited the public to participate in the music video for its newest hit, "Two Beers," which will be released this Friday.

Sunset Sinners plans to overtake The Well Lake beach spot at 2095 Water Well Road southeast of town with a production crew from Nashville alongside dozens of Salina citizens.

"The guys have a brand new song called 'Two Beers,' and it's coming out everywhere Friday, June 7," said Jesse Atwell, the Sunset Sinners' representative from Atwell Management. "As part of that celebration, they're kicking off a music video shoot on Saturday, June 8, in Salina, and it's open to the public completely free."

Atwell said that the event is for participants 21 years or older since Anheuser Busch sponsored the event.

"There will be beer available, but we're flying in a production crew from Nashville to shoot the video, and we just want as many Salina and Kansas-area folks invited and available to be in the shoot," Atwell said.

Stereophonic Films will be the Nashville-based production company shooting the music video.

Sunset Sinners set off away from Salina earlier this year, traveling to Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas, to record their new material and to Texarkana, Texas, in April for the Sunset Solarbration Festival.

The Sunset Sinners "Two Beers" Music Video Party will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 8, at the Well Lake beach area. 

"Kickoff time is 3 p.m., but that's when we'll probably start rolling," Atwell said. "So if people would start showing up a little before, that would probably be best."

Atwell said the event is free to the public — the only requirements include bringing flip-flops, sunscreen, beach towels and being 21 or older.

At about 10:18 a.m., Monday, June 3, a juvenile driving a black Chrysler 300 southbound on Ninth Street turned east onto Republic Avenue and caused a crash by cutting off a red Chevrolet Malibu.

Salina Police Department (SPD) Sgt. Carlos Londono said the driver of the Chrysler 300 held a driving permit and had a passenger in the vehicle, while the driver of the Chevy Malibu was the sole passenger.

"Two juveniles driving southbound on Ninth Street when the driver had a permit only turned left eastbound onto Republic and didn't see the car coming to their direction northbound and cut them off," Londono said. "The driver of the northbound car had minor injuries — some neck pain, but nothing super serious."

Londono said that no other passenger reported injuries from the crash.

While at the scene, two Salina Fire Department (SFD) trucks guarded the two cars from the busy traffic on Ninth Street. A few SPD vehicles barred traffic on Republic Avenue on the east side of the intersection of Ninth and Republic.

Monday morning, around 10:30 a.m., two cars at the intersection of South Ninth Street and West Republic Avenue crashed and caused possible injuries to drivers and passengers.

A red Chevrolet Malibu crashed into the front end of a black, four-door passenger car, with the Malibu's airbags deploying.

While at the scene, two Salina Fire Department trucks guarded the two cars from the busy traffic on Ninth Street. A few Salina Police Department (SPD) vehicles barred traffic on Republic Avenue on the east side of the intersection of Ninth and Republic. 

SPD staff intend to provide more information on the possible injury-causing vehicle crash.

UPDATED: Juvenile with driver's permit only causes collision at Republic and Ninth

Early Friday morning, May 31, Salina Region Health Center staff treated a Salina resident for a significant eye injury — the victim said that someone hit him in the face with a pipe.

At 2 a.m., Salina Police Department (SPD) officers reported to the local hospital and took the 65-year-old man's account of the incident.

SPD Capt. Mike Miller said the victim reported driving to a residence in the 100 block of Taylor Court to meet with a woman, but when he knocked on the door, no one answered.

The man then returned to his blue Chevrolet Venture, and while sitting outside the home, a man approached him outside demanding answers.

"A gentleman [alleged suspect] came around between some houses... and said, 'Why are you here? What are you doing there?'" Miller said. "The white unknown male hit him [the victim] in the face with a blunt object. He thought it might be a pipe."

Miller said the alleged aggravated battery happened sometime between 1:45 a.m. and 2 a.m. The victim then drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

The victim reported some details and was then transported to the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.&nbsp;

Salina resident attacked with pipe — eye injury leads to Wichita transfer

The City of Salina’s Water Department office will be closed at noon on Friday, June 7, for a billing system switchover. It will also be closed on Monday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 11, and will reopen on Wednesday, June 12, at 8 a.m. with the new, upgraded billing system. During this time, no water bill payments will be accepted by phone, online or in person. 

“Water customers can expect changes that make their bill easier to read and provide more user-friendly options,” said Susan Watt, Water Customer Accounting Supervisor for the City of Salina.

The new water billing system will offer several new features for a better customer experience. A new bill style will include all current information plus more in a new, clean-cut format. The new system will also offer text alerts for interested customers and a portal to track water usage. 

The account number format will change from 12345-6789 to 123456789. Customers currently enrolled in autopay will need to re-register. A video highlighting the upcoming changes is available on YouTube at <a target="_blank" href="https://youtu.be/EbXawlTi6Xk.">https://youtu.be/EbXawlTi6Xk</a>.

Water bill payments can be made in several ways:

- In-person in Room 102 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street

During this time, no water bill payments will be accepted by phone, online or in person. “Water customers can expect changes that make their bill easier to read and provide more user-friendly options,” said Susan Watt, Water Customer Accounting Supervisor for the City of Salina.The new water billing system will offer several new features for a better customer experience. A new bill style will include all current information plus more in a new, clean-cut format. The new system will also offer text alerts for interested customers and a portal to track water usage. The account number format will change from 12345-6789 to 123456789. Customers currently enrolled in autopay will need to re-register. When the brother of a deceased homeowner returned to the property to check in on the house on Memorial Day, he discovered that someone had stolen a truck and multiple televisions from the home.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said that sometime between April 27 and Monday, May 27, an unknown suspect broke into a home in the 12000 block of West Lockard Road and stole a red 1989 GMC truck and two flatscreen televisions, a 40-inch model and a 35-inch model.

"The gentleman that lived there had passed away, and his brother was taking care of the property," Soldan said. "[The truck] has a toolbox in the bed, and that vehicle has been entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center)."

The truck was valued at $1,500, while the two TVs totaled about $800. Soldan said the suspect first broke into a shed near the house to steal the vehicle and later entered the house for the other stolen items.

Saline County Sheriff's Office deputies continue investigating the crime.

Unknown suspect steals pickup truck and televisions from rural Saline County property

Early Tuesday morning, May 28, a 24-year-old Salina woman called the Salina Police Department (SPD) and reported that someone she knew allegedly assaulted her before running away.

SPD Capt. James Feldman said the victim reported that 22-year-old Rylan Whitmer entered a residence in the 400 block of North Broadway Boulevard where she was staying at about 7:20 a.m. before punching her in the face and running away.

"A known associate came home and ended up jumping on her and punching her in the face, breaking her nose," Feldman said. "He then took off running and the victim called us."

Feldman said that Whitmer lives in the 400 block of North Broadway, but the victim was visiting the residence where the alleged assault happened. The victim also reported that Whitmer sent her intimidating text messages that included a threat to kill her.

Officers later located Whitmer the same day underneath Broadway Boulevard in a viaduct and, through some further investigation, found evidence of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.

Feldman said officers arrested Whitmer without incident and requested charges for aggravated domestic battery, criminal threat, possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Salina man arrested for early morning assault

After stealing a car parked at a local liquor store and driving it a short distance near the Ambassy Hotel, a Salina resident allegedly ran naked outside before retreating to a room at the local inn.

Salina Police Department (SPD) Capt. James Feldman said at about 2:45 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, a 36-year-old resident reported that someone stole his 2000 Ford Mustang from the storefront of Cave Divers Liquor at 1103 West Crawford Street.

Feldman said the victim reported that he left the car running while he went into the store to shop.

"While in there, a subject, later identified as Marcellius Garner, a 31-year-old male from Salina, was in the store. Employees stated that Mr. Garner was walking around the store and indicated that he did not have any money and was hoping someone would purchase alcohol for him," Feldman said. "They did observe him picking up a bottle of tequila, valued at $29, and then just walk out." 

Garner then got into the Mustang and drove away. Feldman said later the same day, an officer located the Mustang at 409 South Broadway Boulevard, just a few blocks north of the liquor store. 

Around 7 p.m., someone called SPD from the Ambassy Hotel at 217 South Broadway Boulevard and reported a man running around naked outside the local hotel.

Once officers arrived, they located and identified Garner from the car theft at Cave Divers Liquor. Garner initially retreated back to his room and allegedly slammed the door barring entry.

"They [officers] were able to get him to answer," Feldman said. "He gave consent to his room where they observed... the same clothing in the room that he had been wearing at the liquor store and the bottle of tequila."

Feldman said officers then arrested Garner and requested charges for felony theft, misdemeanor theft and lewd and lascivious exposure.

Salina man steals car from local liquor store, later runs naked near hotel on Memorial Day

On Saturday afternoon, a Salina resident reported that someone she knew broke into her residence and stole some personal items while she was at home.

Salina Police Department (SPD) Capt. James Feldman said the 19-year-old victim reported the crime at 4:30 p.m. and told officers that 18-year-old Haiden Briscoe broke into her loft apartment in the 900 block of North 13th Street. 

"While in the residence, she heard the acquaintance at her loft residence, and she determined that she had gained entry through a window," Feldman said. "The acquaintance left the residence, and they [SPD officers] noticed a two to three-inch tear on the window screen that afforded entry."

Before leaving the residence, Briscoe allegedly stole a few ball caps and a sweatshirt. Feldman said the victim reported that Briscoe had harassed her on a phone call.

Feldman said officers later located Briscoe and arrested her for aggravated burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and harassment by telephone.

According to Saline County Treasurer Jim DuBois, the internet has been restored to the Salina City/Saline County Building.&nbsp; At 9:46 a.m. NexTech announced via social media that the emergency maintenance is complete, and customers should see their service come back online.&nbsp; NexTech Customer Solutions Specialist, John Hendrick said customers may need to reboot their router by disconnecting it from power for about 60 seconds.&nbsp; If customers continue to have connection issues, please contact the NexTech Help Desk at 688-565-3200.

John Hendrick, customer solutions specialist at NexTech said the issue is affecting approximately 1,000 customers.&nbsp;

"We are aware that during maintenance last night that there was some internal issues that happened," Hendrick said. "All of us are working diligently to get the problem resolved in a quick and expedient manner."

"We're just flat down. I came in at 7 a.m. this morning and couldn't log on," DuBois said. "I talked to IT, and they just said they're working on it."

A Salina resident reached speeds of 110 mph on Crawford Street Saturday night after leading Saline County Sheriff's deputies in a short pursuit.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said that at about 7:56 p.m., Saturday, May 25, a Sheriff's Office deputy witnessed a dark gray Chevrolet Silverado truck turn onto Ninth Street from Saturn Avenue with squealing tires and a revving engine.

  "The vehicle was fishtailing, so he [the deputy] turned on his emergency lights to try and stop the vehicle, and it turned and went west on Magnolia at a high rate of speed," Soldan said. "Then, it turned north on I-135, and the deputy clocked the speed of 117 in the posted 75 mph zone."

Soldan said the driver exited the interstate at Crawford Street and continued at high speeds, reaching 110 mph on the town road.

The deputy discontinued the pursuit once the driver reached extreme speeds in town. Still, Soldan said shortly after the deputy discontinued the chase, a Salina Police Department (SPD) officer successfully pulled over the driver near Crawford Street and Broadway Boulevard.

SPD officers then arrested 20-year-old Salina resident Alexander Bradbury and requested charges for fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and racing on laned roadways.

Salina resident arrested for speeding — 110 mph on Crawford Street in Salina

From sending out tax payment reminders to informing residents of unclaimed property under their name, the Saline County Treasurer's Office affects the daily lives of nearly every citizen in the county.

Next October, after a dozen years as the Saline County Treasurer, Jim DuBois intends to retire after turning around the county's idle funds, bringing more critical storage space for the office and working closely with other county departments on security and assistance.

Once DuBois finishes his term, he intends to refocus on the Salina community while spending more time with his church and family.

"I would like to spend more time helping our church," DuBois said. "I've also always thought it'd be great to do a mission trip. Obviously, with our time and&nbsp;the things&nbsp;we've had, we've never had an opportunity to do that, so that's another goal."

However, before he gets to the quiet days of retirement, DuBois will continue his term until the second Tuesday of October next year, following the fiscal year rather than the regular election schedule.

DuBois said his family moved to Salina in 1964 when he was six years old after the Air Force relocated his father to Schilling Air Force Base.

"My dad&nbsp;was deployed&nbsp;to Vietnam, so we came here through Schilling," DuBois said. "I graduated from Sacred Heart High School, went to Barton Community College, went to Kansas Wesleyan and got my master's through Nova Southeastern University."

Once DuBois finished his master's program, he began teaching as an adjunct instructor for criminal justice courses at Kansas Wesleyan University.

In 2012, he changed his profession and ran for the Saline County Treasurer's Office, taking over for Brenda Siemsen.  She was treasurer for two terms before DuBois ran for office.&nbsp;

"It's a big learning curve. I will say, having the right staff and&nbsp;the right&nbsp;people in place and providing the tools for them to do their jobs is the way that we've progressed all the way here," DuBois said.

An office focused on cash and&nbsp;community

As DuBois entered office, he began building a team and&nbsp;looking for ways&nbsp;the County Treasurer's Office&nbsp;could improve.

One significant aspect DuBois oversees that impacts nearly every Saline County citizen is the County Tag Office, and he said he immediately recognized a way for the county to save cash.

"The thing that&nbsp;kind of&nbsp;bothered me was that we were paying rent to an out-of-state owner, and I figured that the money that we brought in should be spent locally under local ownership," DuBois said. "I did make that move&nbsp;and&nbsp;we saved quite a bit of money."

Although the move temporarily saved the county cash, tag offices operate solely from the funds generated through tag renewals and title fees. Due to stagnation in increasing those fees year after year, the satellite tag office will close on June 7.

DuBois said when he began his position as Treasurer, the county's idle funds were in debt. Still, through careful planning and changes in the various departments, the county now boasts $2 million in savings for emergencies, projects or miscellaneous needs.

"The other thing we did was develop policies," DuBois said. "To&nbsp;make sure&nbsp;that whoever takes office in the future, hopefully, doesn't squander those."

Through close relations with the other County departments, DuBois also acquired more storage space for required tax documents and other information, benefiting departments like the Clerk's Office.

The Clerk's Office requires significant storage for election equipment and other required documents.

"We work very closely with all the departments&nbsp;in&nbsp;here," DuBois said.&nbsp;"We all get together fairly often — myself, the Register of Deeds, the clerk, the sheriff, the county attorney — and we visit&nbsp;with&nbsp;each other and look at ways&nbsp;that we can&nbsp;help each other."

"I feel like we are&nbsp;definitely&nbsp;a family of sorts."

The upcoming local election will determine who replaces DuBois, but until then, he intends to continue diligently serving Saline County residents.

 </figure><h2>An office focused on cash and&nbsp;community</h2>As DuBois entered office, he began building a team and&nbsp;looking for ways&nbsp;the County Treasurer's Office&nbsp;could improve.One significant aspect DuBois oversees that impacts nearly every Saline County citizen is the County Tag Office, and he said he immediately recognized a way for the county to save cash."The thing that&nbsp;kind of&nbsp;bothered me was that we were paying rent to an out-of-state owner, and I figured that the money that we brought in should be spent locally under local ownership," DuBois said. "I did make that move&nbsp;and&nbsp;we saved quite a bit of money."Although the move temporarily saved the county cash, tag offices operate solely from the funds generated through tag renewals and title fees. "To&nbsp;make sure&nbsp;that whoever takes office in the future, hopefully, doesn't squander those."Through close relations with the other County departments, DuBois also acquired more storage space for required tax documents and other information, benefiting departments like the Clerk's Office.The Clerk's Office requires significant storage for election equipment and other required documents."We work very closely with all the departments&nbsp;in&nbsp;here," DuBois said.&nbsp;"We all get together fairly often — myself, the Register of Deeds, the clerk, the sheriff, the county attorney — and we visit&nbsp;with&nbsp;each other and look at ways&nbsp;that we can&nbsp;help each other.""I feel like we are&nbsp;definitely&nbsp;a family of sorts."The upcoming local election will determine who replaces DuBois, but until then, he intends to continue diligently serving Saline County residents.

Cash and community — a glimpse into Jim DuBois' career as Saline County Treasurer

Members of the Saline County Community and friends of the W. Kreps American Legion Post 62 honored our nation’s &nbsp;fallen heroes during a Memorial Day Ceremony on May 27 at the Salina-Saline County War Memorial in Sunset Park.

<a href="https://www.dla.mil/About-DLA/News/News-Article-View/Article/2697347/dla-indo-pacific-bids-farewell-to-military-deputy-commander/">U.S. Army Ret. Col. Julia Bell</a>, who, in 2021, made significant contributions as the Defense Logistics Agency Indo-Pacific Military Deputy Commander, spoke to more than 100 attendees dressed in red, white and blue.&nbsp;

Bell is a Salina native and Salina South High School graduate.

Bell, the daughter of Sgt. Maj. Eldrige, retired, and Thanh Thuy Bell, of Salina. Bell attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps in June 1996.

The soldier behind Legion Post 62's name,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.honorstates.org/profiles/136883/">Leslie W. Kreps, was a fallen soldier of World War I</a>. He was buried in Romagne, France, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Victory Medal for his military deeds.

Salina City Mayor Bill Longbine said he was pleased with the turnout for the ceremony.

“We ordered some City Commission weather,” Longbine said. “ The turnout really shows the Salina community cares about the fallen who gave their lives.”

Longbine said his father, Dee Longbine was on the committee that was responsible for bringing the first war memorial monument to Sunset Park.&nbsp;

Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans — the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) — established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. 

Maj. Gen. John A. Logan declared it should be May 30. It is believed the date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country. The first large observance was held that year at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. 

The ceremonies centered around the mourning- draped veranda of the Arlington mansion, once the home of Gen. Robert E. Lee. Various Washington officials, including Gen. and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant, presided over the ceremonies.

After speeches, children from the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphan Home and members of the GAR made their way through the cemetery, strewing flowers on both Union and Confederate graves, reciting prayers and singing hymns.

Local springtime tributes to the Civil War dead already had been held in various places. One of the first occurred in Columbus, Miss., on April 25, 1866, when a group of women visited a cemetery to decorate the graves of Confederate soldiers who had fallen in battle at Shiloh. 

Nearby were the graves of Union soldiers, neglected because they were the enemy. Disturbed at the sight of the bare graves, the women placed some of their flowers on those graves, as well. 

Today, cities in the North and the South claim to be the birthplace of Memorial Day in 1866. Both Macon and Columbus, Ga., claim the title, as well as Richmond, Va. 

The village of Boalsburg, Pa., claims it began there two years earlier. A stone in a Carbondale, Ill., cemetery carries the statement that the first Decoration Day ceremony took place there on April 29, 1866. Carbondale was the wartime home of Gen. Logan. 

Approximately 25 places have been named in connection with the origin of Memorial Day, many of them in the South where most of the war dead were buried.

Official Birthplace Declared In 1966, Congress and President Lyndon Johnson declared Waterloo, N.Y., the “birthplace” of Memorial Day. 

There, a ceremony on May 5, 1866, honored local veterans who had fought in the Civil War. Businesses closed and residents flew flags at half-staff. Supporters of Waterloo’s claim say earlier observances in other places were either informal, not community-wide or one-time events. By the end of the 19th century Memorial Day ceremonies were being held on May 30 throughout the nation. 

State legislatures passed proclamations designating the day, and the Army and Navy adopted regulations for proper observance at their facilities. It was not until after World War I, however, that the day was expanded to honor those who have died in all American wars. 

In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress, though it is still often called Decoration Day. It was then also placed on the last Monday in May, as were some other federal holidays.

 </figure>By OLIVIA BERGMEIER Lead Reporter - Salina PostStorms loom in the forecast again for much of the central Plains today, with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Storm Prediction Center (NOAA SPC) meteorologists predicting 70 to 80 mph wind gusts, large hail and the possibility for tornadoes.National Weather Service Wichita (NWS Wichita) meteorologists predict that storms will reach the Saline County region between 7 and 10 p.m. today, while severe weather could begin as early as 4 p.m. across portions of Texas and Oklahoma.<figure>

 </figure>Salina experienced a chilly morning, with the Salina Regional Airport reporting a brisk 55.9 degrees at 5:53 a.m. and a dew point of 48.9 degrees."It was a pretty cool chilly morning, so it's going to take quite a while for the deep moisture to get up into the Salina area," said NWS Wichita Meteorologist Scott Smith. "I would say that after the seven or eight o'clock timeframe would be when you see any impacts, and most likely, the storms would develop off to the West and head toward Salina, so it could be even later than that."READ MORE:&nbsp;<a href="https://salinapost.com/posts/3969fc82-b07d-4d4e-885d-fe75a7799560">🎥UPDATED: Severe weather coverage May 19 — Salina Airport reports 100 mph winds</a>The city of Salina lies on the edge of the moderate-risk area defined by the NOAA SPC categorical outlook. Still, much of Saline County and south central Kansas have higher risks for damaging severe weather.Smith said that storms that may later reach the Salina region will likely begin as isolated storms in western Kansas but have the chance to congeal into a line of storms often referred to as a squall line, decreasing the chance of tornadoes.<figure>

 </figure>Although the threat of tornadoes decreases when isolated storms become a squall line, the danger of 80 mph straight-line winds and damaging hail remains a significant concern."You can't rule out a tornado even in that scenario, but tornadoes would be more likely early on, and then your strong, straight, damaging winds later as they hedge their way to the Salina region," Scott said.These squall lines often bring heavy rains alongside the large hail and strong wind gusts.&nbsp;Smith said that although meteorologists at the NOAA SPC and NWS Wichita have a medium level of confidence in which areas will see storms this evening, residents should prepare accordingly with at least two ways to receive weather information, like a smartphone and weather radio or any other combination of receiving weather information, and have an action plan for when severe weather hits.<figure>
