Police: Pedestrian dies days after struck by a car on I-70

KANSAS CITY —A pedestrian injured in an accident just before 2:30p.m. February 23 has died.

The pedestrian was standing/walking in the middle travel lane of eastbound Interstate 70 at Sterling, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

A red Honda Civic struck the pedestrian, knocking the pedestrian to the ground. The driver of the Honda who was uninjured in the collision, stopped and cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The Jackson County Medical Examiner's office notified police on Wednesday the victim died just after 9:30p.m. Tuesday, according to DiMartino.  Police have not released the name of the pedestrian or additional details.
