SEDGWICK COUNTY – A detention deputy was seriously injured just before 7:30p.m. Monday after an inmate allegedly threw scalding water on the deputy inside the Sedgwick County Detention facility, according to a media release from the Sheriff's Office.
The deputy sustained serious burns and was transported by Sedgwick County EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
Sheriff’s detectives launched an investigation. The sheriff's office released no additional details late Monday.
