U.S. Marshals capture 17-year-old wanted for Kan. man's murder

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly shooting that took place outside the Dollar General store in the 6000 block of Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kan. have captured a suspect.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force took a 17 year-old boy into custody Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri, according to a media release. The suspect has been charged by the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office with first-degree felony murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Gerald Jones, II, and aggravated robbery.

The boy is currently being held in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center as he awaits extradition to Wyandotte County.

Just before 7:30 p.m. April 22, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 6000 block of Leavenworth Road, according to a media release.

First responders discovered Jones in the parking lot of a business. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
