MANHATTAN —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident and have a suspect in custody.
Just before 7:30p.m. Saturday, police in Wichita arrested 25-year old Hunter Lee Gilbert on a warrant out of Manhattan, according to the Sedgwick County booking report.
The warrant is in connection to a January 24, 2022 hit-and-run crash, where Gilbert allegedly rear-ended two vehicles at the intersection of Fort Riley Boulevard and Richards Drive and and left the scene.
In Wichita, police also arrested Gilbert for alleged interference with law enforcement, falsely reporting a crime and possession of a controlled substance.
In Riley County, he faces requested charges that include "Duty of driver to report accident with an unattended vehicle/property; 1st conv; Vehicle liability insurance; Liability coverage required; Vehicles; Unlawful Acts; e.g., registration; Improper driving on laned roadway; Ignition interlock device; Tamper to render it inaccurate or inoperative and a probation violation, according to the Riley County Police Department arrest report. He no longer in custody.
