The governor greeting the players and coaches and then read a proclamation designating April 25 as the "KU men's basketball national championship victory day."

The official proclamation signed by Governor Kelly can be found here.

Coach Self then presented the governor with a basketball autographed by members of the team.

Following the proclamation, the Governor joined Senate President Masterson and House Speaker Ryckman for a reception honoring the national champions.

On April 4, the Jayhawks pulled off the biggest comeback in national championship history getting a big game from David McCormack, crucial shots from Remy Martin and surviving a tying 3-pointer by North Carolina's Caleb Love that missed everything at the buzzer for a 72-69 victory in the Superdome.
