Kan. felon accused of selling 'dirty 30' pills ran from traffic stop

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a traffic stop.

Shortly before 2a.m. Jan. 8, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a black Lincoln MKX with no license plate near NW Grant Street and NW Logan Street, according to Shawnee County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Wanamaker.

After the Lincoln came to a stop, the driver exited the vehicle and ran.

After a foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody near NW St. John Street and NW Logan Street. During the investigation, “dirty 30” pills, methamphetamine, and a handgun were located.

Bryan S. Wurtz Jr., 29, of Topeka, was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of felony interference, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of opiates with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, operate a vehicle without registration and operate a vehicle with no insurance.
