Other officers arriving were directed to the north side of the grocery store parking lot where they located Carmichael also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, with life threatening injuries. Just before 9 a.m., investigators were notified that he died of his injuries at the hospital.

Preliminary information indicates there was an interaction outside of the grocery store between multiple individuals just prior to the shots being fired. This is being investigated as a homicide, and no one is in custody.
