SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating a Saturday homicide in Topeka have made an arrest.
Just after 1:00 a.m., police responded to a local hospital in reference to a victim, later identified as 29-year-old Chavis Collins, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. A short time later, Collins died of his injuries, according to Topeka Police Lt. Ronnie Connell.
On Monday night police reported the arrest of 23-year-old Desmond A. Lindsey, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols. He is being held on requested charges that include murder in the second degree, criminal discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault.
This was the city’s 2nd homicide in two days last week.
