KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 5p.m. Thursday in Kansas City.
A Subaru Forrester was northbound on Eastern Avenue and entered the intersection at Blue Ridge Boulevard from a stop sign and struck a southbound Dodge Dakota, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The impact caused the Dodge to rotate, striking the curb and a metal light pole before overturning. The front seat passenger of the Dodge was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The driver and rear seat juvenile passenger of the Subaru were uninjured in the collision. The occupants of the pickup were not wearing seat belts, according to DiMartino. This is fatality #43 compared to #49 at this time last year. The accident remains under investigation. Names of the victims have not been releases.
