Halloween homicide: Kan. woman accused of killing her mom faced a judge

SEDGWICK COUNTY  — A Kansas  woman accused in the stabbing death of her mother on Halloween made her first court appearance Tuesday.

Angelynn Elizabeth Mock, 47, was charged with first-degree murder, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just before 8a.m. Friday, police responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 1500 block of East Crowley in Wichita, according to a media release from Wichita Police. First responders located Mock outside the home.

 Inside the residence, officers found 80-year-old Anita Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased at 8:26 a.m.

Mock was transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.  She is due back in court November 14, according to the district attorney's office. She is being held on a one-million dollar bond.
