SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating the murder of a Kansas woman and have a suspect in custody.
Just after 3p.m. Sept. 6, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. Chautauqua in Wichita for a welfare check on66-year-old Brenda McNeely, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.
Officers received information that she could be inside the residence and possibly injured and in need of help. The door to the residence was forced open and officers located with a fatal stab wound inside of the residence. She would be pronounced deceased on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect identified as 35-year-old Antonio Jones, according to booking records, was involved in a disturbance with Brenda, which ultimately led to her stabbing.
Officers acted swiftly and diligently, pursued leads to apprehend Jones. who has now been taken into custody. He is being held in Sedgwick County on a $250,000 on charges of First Degree Murder, according to online jail records.
