Sheriff: Kan. driver was passing vehicles on the highway shoulder

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas man on multiple allegations after a chase at over 100mph. 

Just after 5:30p.m. August 30, a Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2019 Toyota Camry for multiple traffic infractions, and allegedly driving at a dangerously fast speed near 198th road and U.S. Highway 75, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

While attempting to stop the the vehicle, the driver allegedly engaged in reckless driving traveling over 100 miles per hour and passing vehicles on the shoulder. The driver was taken into custody by deputies at 110th Road and U.S. highway 75. The driver was identified as Sedrick Jaquise Hatfield, 27, of Lenexa, Kansas.

Hatfield was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; 1st conviction; incapable of safely driving, improper driving on roadway, no vehicle registration, and driving without a valid license.
