Mulvane, Sedgwick County Fire District Stations 34 & 36, Wichita Fire E19 and T7 and McConnell AFB FES also responded.

Enroute to the fire, dispatch reported an explosion with green flames. Crews arrived to heavy fire showing from a large outbuilding behind a house.

Access to the building was limited and difficult. Crews launched an aggressive offensive attack but were met with hoarding, high heat, and heavy fire conditions throughout.  After unsuccessful attempts to put the fire out and dangerous conditions, the fire was declared defensive and crews backed out to a safe location.

Two additional engines and EMS were requested bringing Sedgwick County Fire District E38 and Q34 and Sedgwick County EMS.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the incident. Two firefighters experienced mild heat exhaustion but did not require transport. No serious injuries were sustained during the fire.
