SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement across Kansas continue to encounter drivers traveling far above the posted speed limit.
Last week, a sheriff's deputy stopped a motorcycle traveling 102mhp in a 55mhp zone near 47th St. South and Rock Road, just north of Derby, according to a social media report from the Sedgwick County Sheriff.
"This happened at 4:00 in the afternoon—a time when traffic is heavy, people are heading home from work, and yes, school buses are on the road."
"This kind of speed isn’t just illegal—it’s dangerous and irresponsible. A crash at that speed could have been catastrophic for the rider and everyone around them."
"We can’t stress this enough: Slow down, stay alive. Respect the lives of those who share the road with you."
