Wanted car theft suspect caught after chase through Kan. Walmart

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Police arrested a Hutchinson man on outstanding warrants after a Sunday morning chase in Walmart, 205 Centennial Drive in McPherson.

Just after 8 a.m. Sunday, McPherson County Sheriff's officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch and an individual walking away from the area of Kansas 61 and 14th Avenue, according to a media release.The vehicle was discovered to have been stolen from Hutchinson.

Around 10:40 a.m., McPherson police received a report of a vehicle burglary in the 2100 block of East Kansas Avenue. The description matched the person officers had been looking for earlier.

At about 11:20 a.m., officers were notified that the person of interest identified as 29-year-old Seth Gilliam was inside the McPherson Walmart. Officers confronted him in the store and he fled through the store and out an emergency exit. After a brief foot chase, officers caught him in the 2200 block of Kansas Avenue. 

 Gilliam was arrested on outstanding warrants and requested charges that include burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and interference with law enforcement, according to online jail records.
