SW Kan. woman jailed for alleged car theft, fight after holiday party

FINNEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on multiple allegations after a holiday party.

Just before 3:30a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the area of Taylor Avenue and Mulberry Street in Garden City for a fight between two women. Upon arrival, Officers met with a woman and a man with visible injuries and learned they had been in an altercation with another woman.

The investigation revealed the man and woman offered 31-year-old Raquel Contreras of Garden City, a ride home from a party. During the ride, Contreras became upset and attacked both individuals with her fists and feet.

Contreras also struck the man in the head with a glass bottle, causing a laceration to his head.

During the altercation, Contreras attempted to drive away in the car without permission before fleeing the area on foot. The man was transported to St. Catherine Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police later located Contreras in the area and took her into custody without incident. Contreras is being held on requested charges of Aggravated Battery, Battery, Interference LEO (F), and Attempted Auto Theft.
