KANSAS CITY—Kansas City man faces charges in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred near Westport earlier this month.
Ihsan A. Mahmud, 49, is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, according to the Jackson County prosecutor's office.
On Sept. 11, Kansas City police responded to the area of 39th Street and Broadway Boulevard and located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. He was later pronounced deceased.
Surveillance footage captured Mahmud sitting in a chair inside a business. The victim opened the exterior front door of the business, and the Mahmud armed himself with a handgun. The victim outside the business did not appear to attempt to open the locked security door. Mahmud walked up to the door and allegedly fired into the closed security door at the victim standing on the other side. Mahmud then unlocked the security door, leaned out, and continued firing as the victim ran away.
A Jackson County judge set a $100,000 cash only bond.
