Crews continue to fight numerous wildfires in southwest Kansas

CLARK COUNTY —Crews continue to fight several wildfire in southwest Kansas. Fire were reported in Meade, Clark Ford and Stevens counties.

Fire departments have banded together and knocked down the fire south of Meade, according to Meade County Sheriff Doug Ritter.  Early Friday, an evacuation order was lifted and residents were allowed to return to their homes.  There are no injuries reported.

The Kansas Department of Transportation closed Kansas 23 Highway from U.S. 54 to the Oklahoma border due to the fire.
