Kansas woman dead, 2 injured after SUV, Jeep crash

WILSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 2:30p.m. Saturday in Wilson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Chevy Traverse driven by   Shirley Kay Martin, 82, Buffalo, Kansas, was southbound on Harper Road at U.S. 400. The driver failed to yield at the stop sign and struck a westbound 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by Brittany Charlyn Sweet, 36, Wichita. After impact both vehicles left the road.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Country Side Funeral Home.  EMS transported Sweet and a passenger in the Jeep Mariah Danielle Tucker, 28, Belle Plaine, to Wesley Medical Center. A second passenger in the Jeep was not injured.  Martin was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
