KANSAS CITY—It was a deadly Labor Day in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just before 4p.m. Monday, were dispatched to a shooting in the 8000 block of E. 88th Terrace, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina
Callers reported hearing the sound of gunshot(s) and seeing a person that appeared to be injured outside an apartment building there. On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim, later ideitified as 28-year-old Tajre Bass-Hill, outside a building there with gunshot injury.
Officers called for EMS, who responded and transported the victim to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Additionally, responding officers detained one subject of interest for further investigation at the scene. Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and began processing the scene for evidence and talking with people who were at the scene when officers arrived. On Monday evening detectives were notified Bass-Hill died from his injuries.
Homicide detectives preliminarily believe the shooting occurred inside an apartment there. Police have not released the name of the possible suspect or reported an arrest.
Just before 10p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a shooting at a convenience store/gas station business in the 500 block of NW Englewood Road, according to Becchina. First responders were directed to a vehicle in front of the convenience store there. Inside that vehicle officers located a a shooting victim, later identified as 45-year-old William Anderson, unresponsive.
Police officers rendered aid and called for EMS to the scene, EMS responded and pronounced Anderson deceased.
Officered located several people who were in the area at the time of the shooting.. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are processed the scene for all available evidence. Preliminary investigation indicates that Anderson had an interaction with one or more suspects in and around the vehicle parked in front of the business. That interaction escalated to gunfire which struck Anderson. The suspect or suspects then left the scene in an unknown direction on foot.
