KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Law enforcement authorities investigating three homicides in Kansas City, Missouri this week.
Just before 10:30p.m. Sunday, police officers were dispatched report of a shooting in the 2500 block of Jackson Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
When officers arrived, they located 47-year-old Alexis Rayford suffering from apparent gunshot trauma in a grassy area outside of a residence. Officers immediately began to render medical aid until EMS personnel responded and transported her to an area hospital. Officers were notified by hospital staff she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin collecting evidence and gathering witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Police have not reported an arrest.
Just before 10:30p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 5600 block of E 28th Street in Kansas City, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As officers arrived, they were directed to a residence on 28th Street where they located an adult male victim, later identified as 53-year-old Derrick McDonald on the front steps. He was suffering from life threatening gun shot wounds.
Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and KCFD EMS simultaneously arrived. Medics transported McDonald to a local hospital in critical condition. A short time later, hospital personnel declared McDonald deceased. This is being investigated as a homicide.
Just after 1p.m. Thursday, patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting near 28th and Wabash, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As officers arrived they located a victim later identified as 38-year-old Annie R. Walker, in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased.
This is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody by responding officers. The preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between multiple individuals in the street prior to shots being fired and Walker being struck.
