WILSON COUNTY—Fire crews were busy the past two days fighting fires in rural Wilson County.
On Thursday, a rural fire unit assisted Fredonia Fire with a bridge on fire on rails to trails trail that goes northeast from Fredonia, according to an online statement from Wilson County Rural FIre. The bridge is a section between Fillmore and 400 Highway. Upon arrival the bridge was found to be heavily engulfed with flames.

Unfortunately with the design of the bridge and the added concrete top for crossing on it made this very difficult for fire crews to do anything to save much of the bridge. Units worked hard trying to extinguish what they could. No injuries were reported.

Just after 5pm Wednesday, Wilson county units were paged out for a grass fire and a large pile of round bales northeast of Fredonia.
The entire bale pile was engulfed. The owner of the hay lost approximately 120 round bales. There were no injuries reported. Authorities have not reporte what caused the fires.
